The SE vs. The Pro

The Supply SE and Supply Pro have arrived. See them both here.

We’re here to help you decide which of our two new Single Edge razors is right for you. Let us formally introduce you to:

The Pro and the SE.

Two different razors with two different goals, for two different kinds of people. Both are the result of listening to over six years of customer feedback.

We heard the requests of those who wanted an even safer razor they could use on every part of their body, which led to the SE.

We listened to our wet shaving veterans who wanted a shave that could handle all the unique angles of their individual beard maps and asked for an even more aggressive shave setting, which led to the Pro.

Your requests sent us on a two-year journey of innovation, testing and finally creating these two Single Edge razors.

Learn more about each of these razors and see a live shave with our founder Patrick at the video below:

We could go on and on about the details of each razor. In fact, we do in other posts (read more about the SE or the Pro). But today you’re deciding which one is right for you. And the easiest way to compare anything is with a convenient side-by-side chart. So, that’s exactly what we made for you.

Can I use Supply to shave my head?

Yes. We're finally talking all things head-shaving. Sure, the Single Edge was designed for an incredibly close and comfortable face shave, but does it work on heads? The short answer: yes, but with the right technique!

Before we jump into all things head shaving, we must offer a simple caveat. The Single Edge razor has a slight learning curve associated with it and was initially designed for the unique contours of faces and necks.

If you were to ask us which razor to use for your head, we would 100% recommend the SE, since it includes our NickStop™  technology to help with the unique curves and bumps in your noggin. And before attempting your first head shave, we recommend getting comfortable with your technique using the razor on your face.

The Tools

  • High-quality shaving cream: A thick, foamy cream with a shea butter base like our Ultra Lather Shaving Cream is recommended to aid in protecting and moisturizing the scalp.
  • Shave brush: Using a shave brush will whip up a thick, protective lather, while simultaneously prepping your hair for optimal shaving conditions. Need suggestions? Here's our shameless plug for the Silvertip Synthetic Brush.
  • Bowl: Using a shave bowl or cup allows you to store that rich lather for the duration of your shave. Our Marble Shaving Bowl will keep your lather warm for your first AND second passes.
  • The SE
  • Post-shave product of your choice: Your aftershave should heal and restore balance to your scalp. Ours is crafted with an aloe vera base instead of alcohol, locking in moisture.

The Preparation

Start with a nice, warm shower. The steam and warm temperature will soften your hair and open up pores, preparing your skin. If you don't have time for a shower, use a damp, warm towel instead. Massage the scalp thoroughly with your fingertips, making sure to stimulate your scalp throughout the process.

Next, you'll want to map the direction of your hair growth. This step is especially important when shaving your head because we recommend only shaving with the grain. Shaving against the grain will increase the possibility of irritation and nicks on your cabeza. ¡No es bueno!

The Lather

Fill your shave bowl or mug with hot water and let it sit for a few minutes so the bowl can heat up. Once it is warm, dump out the water. Our Marble Shave Bowl is designed to retain heat three times longer than ceramic bowls. Next, take a finger scoop of shave cream and rub it into the bottom of the bowl. With your brush, whip the cream into a thick lather. If you're having trouble building a thick, foamy lather, just add more water until it reaches your preferred consistency.

To apply, use circular motions with your shave brush to cover your entire head in a cushiony lather. Using a shave brush to apply cream will gently lift hairs in preparation for your shave.

The Shave

Grab your trusty SE. In front of a mirror, start with light, short strokes on the easier, more visible spots of your head. Remember - absolutely NO pressure! Let the weight of the razor do the work and gently "sweep away" your hair. Make sure you’re shaving with the grain to avoid irritation.

Once you have completed the top and sides of your scalp, it’s time to move to the back of your head/neck area. These areas are especially sensitive and since they’re in your blind spot, do everything you can to cheat. Use extra mirrors or tag in a friend, no one here is judging! Most people’s hair growth makes it challenging to shave with the grain in these areas, so do anything you can to make it more accessible.

Once you've completed your first pass, you will want to examine your head to see if any areas were missed. If you find any patches, it’s time to take the Single Edge for round two. But wait! Don’t just start stroking with your razor no matter how minor the spots seem. You want to avoid the blade touching your skin as much as possible to reduce the chance of irritation and razor bumps. Re-lather! Re-lather! Re-lather!

The Finish

Finally, the easy part. Since all the heavy lifting was taken care of during your preparation, your last step is to moisturize your scalp. Rinse your head with cold water to clean off any excess shave cream and hair. This will also tighten your pores in the process. Dry off your head with a clean towel, paying careful attention not to rub.

Apply your post shave of choice. Our Healing Post Shave has ingredients that will heal, restore and moisturize your skin. Or you can opt for incredibly nourishing Multi-Purpose Moisturizer for a more intense hydration.

Whatever you choose, you’re officially ready to take the world head-on!

TSA Travel Tips for your Shaving Gear

IMPORTANT TSA UPDATE

You won't find this on their website.

They have a new "inside" policy that states: TSA officers have the discretion to prohibit ANY item through the screening checkpoint if they believe it poses a security threat.

In other words, if they think your razor is a threat, they can and will confiscate it, even if you took the blade out.

This is due to a recent incident in December of 2022, here's the link to a video of the incidenthttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4JEsBDuMa_U

Which razor would you recommend for shaving your body?

We definitely recommend using the SE for any and all body shaving needs. The NickStop™  technology was designed to be used on all parts of the body. The 16 precision fins are there to push skin out of the way and guide any hair to the blade.

Do blades come with the SE and Pro?

Great news! Yes - you’ll receive a pack of our Black Label blades inside the box of your new razor. The QuickLoad™  pack includes 8 Japanese steel blades that usually last customers up to 3 months of regular shaving.

Plus, you can easily set up a subscription for blades, so you won’t have to worry about running out. Set them up easily at the links below:

Can I travel with the SE and PRO?

The short answer is: yes.

The longer answer: You can always travel with it in your checked luggage, but if you’re wanting to carry it onto a plane, you’ll need to do it without the blade installed.

With the SE, you can easily uninstall the blade by completely unscrewing the screw and removing the blade manually. To remove the blade from the Pro, you’ll need to use a small tool to push the blade carefully through and out of the razor.

Will the SE and Pro fit in our current Travel Case?

Yes - the PRO is a tight fit, but it still works. No wiggle room. Just position it with the blade facing up. That being said, you will need to uninstall your Grip Sleeve in order for it to slide into the travel case. You can easily store a pack of blades and grip sleeve on either side of the razor when traveling.

Supply vs. a Multi-blade Razor

Why opt for a single blade razor over the multi-blade razors that everyone seems to use?

Well.. single blade razors cut hair where they're actually supposed to be cut - at the surface of the skin. This allows hair to grow back naturally, while dramatically reducing irritation, redness, nicks, and ingrown hairs.

In contrast, multi-blade razors cut hair below the surface. The first blade cuts the hair, but the second, third, and fourth blades cut hair micrometers below the surface of the skin. All razors create microscopic cuts in the skin, but the 3, 4, or 5 blades on multi-blade razors amplify this problem. It causes irritation and redness, especially for people who suffer from sensitive skin.

When the hair does start to grow back, since it was cut below the surface of the skin, it has to fight through tiny layers of skin. This is what causes ingrown hairs.

The mass amounts of tiny cuts created by multi-blades also cause your skin to age prematurely. The single blade produces far less micro-cuts, allowing the skin to heal quicker and not age before its time.

Let's forget about razor handles and different brands. There's marketing for why this razor is better than any you've ever tried. And let's focus on blades - specifically comparing one super sharp blade to multiple cartridge blades.

How could one blade ever compare to five?

How Multiple-Blade Razors Work

The whole premise behind adding multiple blades to a razor was to lift and cut the hair beneath the surface of your skin. The first blade lifts the hair and the subsequent blades cut below the surface of the skin, giving you a close shave.

The issue? When you shave below the surface of the skin, you leave your skin vulnerable to ingrown hairs. And multiple sharp edges create more friction with your face. And friction leads to razor burn and irritation.

How A Single Blade Razor Works

On the other side of the spectrum, a single blade razor will shave at the surface of our skin, giving you an extremely close shave without the risk of ingrown hairs and irritation. With just one blade, there's less friction, so less irritation and razor burn.

So, why would companies continue to add blades and market it as a better shave?

The "Science" Behind Multiple Blades

To answer that question, you have to understand the "science" given by companies who create multi-blade razors. Most people assume more blades is better, but that's because we've literally had billions of dollars of marketing telling us this for the past 30 years.

The fact is that the only "science" that supports the theory that multi-blade razors provide a superior shave to single blade razors is funded by the largest and most profitable multi-blade razor manufacturer on the planet. Questionable, at best.

Think about it for a minute. Where is the quintessential place you go to get the best shave possible? Your barber. And what does he use to do it? A single blade.

In the absence of clear scientific results, the only way to know what works for you is to experience them. We're here to let our customers' results speak for themselves. These are unbiased, unedited real reviews. And we have thousands of them.

BEST RAZOR I HAVE EVER USED

"For someone who has really sensitive skin and a weird beard map, I was skeptical to making the switch to a single blade. Now after about 4 weeks, it is the best experience I have had with any razor on the market. The Single Edge shave is not hard and will leave your skin in it's best shape! Absolutely will be purchasing more products from Supply! Great brand, customer service and support!" - BLAKE S.

LOVE IT!

"Since I started shaving, I had suffered from razor burn, ingrown hairs, nicks, etc. I tried everything. The amount of money I spent on shaving products was staggering. I always bought the new thing, the better cream, pre-shave, post-shave, razors and so on. With the Supply Single Edge, for the first time in my life, I have been enjoying shaving. Not one in-grown hair, or sign of razor burn. My face and neck are healthy and healing from all of my past shaving mistakes. Thank you!" - MICHAEL U.

SIMPLY THE BEST!

"I wasn't sure what to expect switching from cartridge razors that always left my skin irritated. It took about 3 shaves to get used to the Supply razor and no joke, this is the best! I have by far the closest shaves of my life with no irritation. In addition to that, it has transformed my shave experience. I actually enjoy shaving and have fun with it now. I chose the Coastal scent for shaving cream, and everyone in my house loves it! Finally, the customer service was top notch, and as someone who works in a field where customers are everything, it made me want to work for them! I am happy to be a customer and part of the Supply family!" - JUSTIN V.

EXTREMELY HAPPY WITH MY PURCHASE!!

"Way better than the shave clubs and other standard multi-blade options. Glad I made the jump. This is worth every penny!" - MITCHELL J.

Supply vs. a Double Edge Razor

One of the most frequent questions we receive about the Single Edge is "how does it shave compared to my ___?" Whether you are a seasoned wetshaving veteran or have used convenience store plastic razors, the Single Edge is for everyone. Today, we compare it to a traditional DE razor.

When it comes to traditional wetshaving, most enthusiasts think of the DE razor (short for double edge) as the standard. A DE razor is exactly how it sounds: it has two cutting edges for shaving on both sides of the razor. While it is an excellent tool for wetshaving once the technique is mastered, there are many advantages for using a Single Edge razor instead.

What makes the Single Edge different?

There are a few main differences between the Single Edge and a DE razor: the blades, weight, the customization, and the mechanics. Some are more obvious while others are what provide that comfortable, close shave we're all looking for.

THE BLADES

First, the Single Edge has only one cutting edge rather than the two of the DE. I know what you're thinking, "Duh." Moving right along.

But, let’s talk a little more about the blades. Double edge safety razor blades are thin and flimsy. This creates what’s called “blade chatter” when the blade moves across the skin. Because the blade is thinner, it is more likely to catch on thicker hair and then make a quick jump forward as it bends back into place. Imagine the blade skipping across your skin. The chances of the blade nicking and cutting your skin only increases with a thinner blade.

Our blades are twice as thick as double edge blades. They’re just as sharp, if not sharper than a double edge blade, and sit securely in the razor. Blade chatter is almost nonexistent with the Single Edge. Our blades just glide across your skin and sweep away the hair as you shave.

THE ANGLE

Finding the proper angle of the blade in DE razors is nowhere near as intuitive as our Single Edge. Most DE razors require you to hold the head of the razor against your skin at a 30-degree angle, making for an awkward and difficult angle to work around your jawline and your neck.

Our Single Edge is designed with the proper blade angle built into it's actual design. Just lay the Supply logo on the head of your razor flat on your skin and go. You may need to tilt back towards you, about 10-15 degrees, if your razor is not sweeping the hair and shaving cream away without any residue left behind.

THE WEIGHT

The weight of the Single Edge is one of the most noticeable differences you will see when you first pick it up - and that was intentional. The weight is there to remind you that you never have to press down during your shave. Unlike other razors, all you need to do is allow the weight of the razor to sweep away the hair with light, short strokes. It'll do all the work, minimizing friction with your skin!

THE CUSTOMIZATION

Every man is unique, and so is his beard. That's why we've created a razor that is adjustable to match your unique shaving needs, and why we now offer two Single Edge versions: the SE and the Pro.

The SE has a single shave setting, but it is perfect for almost every type of shaver out there. The NickStop™  technology includes 16 precision fins that push the skin away from the blade while simultaneously guiding the hair to the blade. Getting started with a safety razor has never been easier or more intuitive.

The Pro unleashes unrivaled customization for your shave. With our unique shave dial, you can swiftly click between our 6 primary settings or dial it in further with the 30 micro settings in between. Have trouble spots that need a closer shave? Just click the dial to a higher setting and go. Have sensitivity? Dial it down to have a more forgiving shave in these areas. The sky is the limit.

And unlike a traditional DE safety razor, the power of your tailor made shave is in your hands.

THE MECHANICS

Finally, changing out a blade in a Single Edge is much easier due to our unique QuickLoad™ blade cartridge that comes with every razor purchase. Insert the key. Pull the lever back. Push it forward. Insert the new blade. Eject the old. Done.

The injector blade is twice as thick as a DE blade and tends to last users almost twice as long. Both of our blade packs hold 8 stainless steel injector blades. Our White Label blades have been in production for over 100 years in the United States. Our Black Label blades are an industry-first, made from renowned Japanese steel.

Lucky for you, each Single Edge ships with a pack of blades included in the b, which can last our customers up to 3 months of shaving.

Which razor would you recommend for women?

“Can women use the Single Edge?”

One of the most frequent questions we get, and if we were having a face-to-face conversation you would hear a shouting, “YES!”

A single blade is actually much better for shaving legs than the multi-blade cartridge razors, minimizing razor burn, lasting longer between shaves, and giving a close, comfortable shave. Plus, women have a much more intuitive feel for shaving with the Single Edge since the design and technique is very similar to what they are used to. So, if you’re a woman in the market, here are some answers to our most frequent female questions:

I’m sold. Which razor should I get?

For body shaving, we 100% recommend grabbing the Single Edge SE. It will provide a close shave, protect sensitive skin from razor burn, and leave your body smoother than you can imagine.

Shop The Single Edge SE

Does the SE only work on legs or can it work in other areas as well?

We designed the SE to work on all parts of the body. While it’s magical with leg shaving, you can easily use it to shave arms, pits, heads, and private regions. We recommend using a thick cushion of shaving cream lather wherever you shave and never use any pressure to get a close shave. Let the razor do all the work for you.

Do I need to use shaving cream with the SE?

Yes! We 100% recommend using a quality shaving cream when shaving any area with our SE. You will notice that the precision fins will catch some of the cream and act like a higher quality lubrication strip than the multi-blade you might be used to. If you need a recommendation, look no further than our Ultra Lather Shaving Cream and Shave Brush. Once you experience the fluffy lather and exfoliating power of this duo, you won’t go back to a can.

I’m nervous shaving with a single blade. Any tips?

It can seem intimidating to shave with a safety razor, but it shouldn’t. Once you have an incredible shave, you’ll never look back. Our biggest tips are to use a thick cushion of lather and never use pressure throughout your shave. It’s a bad habit learned from using dull multi-blade razors and is terrible on your skin.

How To Trim Side Burns

We get it. You need to keep those side burns clean, and the best way to do that is with a single blade. So, whether you have your Single Edge SE or Pro, you’re equipped with the best tool to get those lines clean.

Why choose a single blade?

Precision is the key to cleaning up overgrown side burns, and the Single Edge will make it much easier to line up accurately compared to cartridge counterparts. Don’t believe me? Let’s look at this logically.

A multi blade razor is exactly what it sounds like, a razor with two to five blades. Try shaving a straight line with this many blades while your razor is perpendicular, and it get's tricky. During your shave, you don’t know where the multiple blades are shaving, which blades are actively shaving hairs while the others are touching bare skin, or how much of your hair is being removed. And let’s be honest, everyone has run into the issue of skin irritation from cartridge razors.

Instead, the Single Edge is a total game changer. With one blade, you only have to keep track of, line up, and shave with a single blade installed in your razor. This allows you to know exactly what your blade is doing during the shave and in turn, it minimizes the possibility of painful shave mistakes.

The Prep Work

Just like you would with any other shave, you want to start with a warm shower or damp towel to soften up the hair around your side burns and open up the pores on your face. This allows your growth to be in prime cutting position and will also minimize the amount of work your razor has to perform.

Then, take your Ultra Lather Shaving Cream (or other quality shave cream) and whip up a nice, thick protective lather. Apply it to the areas you are wanting to trim and line up.

Trimming Your Side Burns

Grab your trusty Single Edge and place the logo on your razor to find the proper angle. Remember, you should NEVER have to use pressure during your shave. It should feel like you are literally sweeping the hairs away with the weight of the razor.

First, shave any facial hair or neck hair you’re wanting to clean up. As you get closer to your side burns, take slower, shorter strokes to create an even line up.

The Follow Up

Once everything is lined up and looking clean, rinse your face with cold water to calm your skin. Grab a nice, clean towel and pat your face nice and dry. Add the perfect finish with a post shave product like our Healing Post Shave. Ingredients like aloe and witch hazel will tone and sooth your beard.

Now that you’re trimmed up, time to conquer the day.

Tips for Shaving Your Neck

Do you get weird bumps on your neck after shaving? You know the ones - itchy, sometimes painful, irritating bumps that make shaving and going out in public a bit awkward.

You may know them as razor bumps when in fact they're more than likely ingrown hairs - and you're making them worse without even knowing it.

What are ingrown hairs?

They’re hairs that have grown into your skin. People with curly or coarse hair tend to have it worse than others since their hair curls back towards the skin. Even something as simple as clogged hair follicles can cause hair to grow back into the skin, causing ingrown hairs.

And, as you well know, shaving doesn’t always help the situation.

If you’re struggling with this, the good news is you can prevent it from happening. There’s a way to shave without getting ingrown hairs, and it only takes a few simple steps.

So without further ado, here are 5 simple ways to prevent those nasty ingrown hairs from rearing their ugly heads.

1. Prep Your Neck Properly.

The first step is knowing how to prepare your neck and when the best time to shave is.

Your neck is prime for shaving when it's clean and whiskers are soft, and the shower is perfect for achieving both. Plus any dead skin that is washed away will help prevent your hair follicles from clogging - which causes ingrown hairs.

So shave right when you get out of the shower to nip that issue in the bud. If you can't shave immediately after you take a shower, soak your face with a hot, wet towel for a minute or two.

2. Use the Right Products.

Still using shaving foam or gel from an aerosol can? Stop. Shaving gels and creams have chemicals and numbing agents that damage your skin and cause irritation. And nobody has time for that.

Instead, use a quality shaving cream with all natural ingredients to help build a thick, protective lather. This will provide a good cushion for your shave, while also lifting the whiskers away from your skin for a much closer shave. And finally, after shaving use a non-alcoholic post shave to soothe and restore moisture to your face.

3. Don’t Sabotage Your Face.

If you’re pressing the razor against your neck at all while you shave, you’re doing too much. You might think you’re achieving a closer shave, but in reality, you’re only creating an uneven surface to shave on, which won’t properly cut the hairs.

Think of it like you're sweeping the hair off your neck - not scraping it off. Your job is to pull the razor along and guide it. If you’re having to push down, it’s probably time you retire that blade.

4. Map Your Beard (even on your neck)

If you have sensitive skin, it's best to only shave with the grain. Shaving against the grain tugs and pulls hairs in the opposite direction (which, as we've already learned, is one way ingrown hairs occur). But how do you know if you’re going with the grain at all times?

Hairs can grow in all directions in different parts of your neck. When you map your grain, you ensure you’re not accidentally going against the grain and causing more ingrown hair problems.

To map your grain, let your beard grow for a few days, and then take a picture of it. You’ll probably want to take a couple from different angles, including one pointing up at the middle of your neck and chin. You can then use these pictures as a map of your grain going forward.

How to Map your Beard Grain

5. Rinse Your Blade.

Every time you take a stroke while shaving, your blade accumulates shaving cream, hair, and skin. This build-up prevents your blade from getting that clean close shave every time and can also cause skin irritation.

Fix this by simply rinsing your blade thoroughly after every stroke, and you’ll be one step closer to a clean, ingrown-hair-free face and neck.

How does Single Edge shaving help reduce and prevent razor burn, bumps, etc.?

Whether you shave with cheap disposables, modern multi-blades, or traditional safety razors, the Single Edge is a serious upgrade to your morning shave and can help reduce irritation. Here's why:

The SE and Pro shave at the surface of your skin. Multi-blade razors are designed to shave below the surface of your skin, pulling hairs up and cutting them too close. This causes irritation and ingrown hairs. The SE and Pro are designed to shave at the surface of your skin, providing a close, comfortable, and irritation-free shave.

They require no pressure when shaving. With multi-blade razors, you've probably found that you have to press the razor against your face while you shave. Here's the deal: you’re doing too much. You might think you’re achieving a closer shave, but in reality, you’re only creating an uneven surface to shave on, which won’t properly cut the hair. But with a Single Edge, you want to think of it like you're sweeping the hair off your face - not scraping it off. The SE and Pro perfect this and literally wipes the hair away. Your job is to simply guide the razor; the weight and blade will do all the work.

Both razors have clog-free technology. They’re easy to clean in between passes. Every time you take a stroke while shaving, your blade accumulates shaving soap, hair, and skin. This build-up prevents your blade from getting that clean, close shave every time. It can also cause skin irritation. A Single Edge fixes this by being easy to clean in between shaves and never clogging up like multi-bladed cartridge razors.

Is shaving with the Single Edge safe?

Single Edge razors are very safe to use, especially once you have mastered the technique.

The Supply SE comes equipped with 16-precision fins that drive our NickStopTM Technology. It’s designed to protect your skin while the fins lift and guide your hair to the blade. There is still a slight learning curve, but it’s almost nothing compared to other safety razors. It will give you a safe, smooth, comfortable shave from the very first pass.

The SE is all the convenience of a multi-blade razor with all the quality of a Single Edge.

The Supply Pro is just as safe to use as the SE once you get your technique down. The first step is finding the right angle, it’s about 10-15 degrees rotated out from your skin. The next step is figuring out which setting works best for your skin. 1 is the most mild. 6 is the most aggressive. You should use your first 3-4 shaves experimenting to see which setting is right for you.

Once you get the angle right and find your setting, you’ll experience a lifetime of safe, close, customized shaves.

How are Supply razors manufactured?

Supply razors are produced via zinc die-casting and coated in PVD Chrome. This is a highly durable finish that is rust and wear-resistant.

Getting Started with the SE & Pro

Getting started with the SE & Pro.

It's true. The Single Edge is the easiest way to begin shaving with a safety razor. However, as with any precision tool, there are important guidelines you will want to keep in mind when using it.

I know - you hate reading instructions. We all do. But the following points are important to getting the best shave out of your brand new razor. So take a few minutes to read through them and get to know your new razor.

Luckily, getting your best shave is as easy as following the four L's:

Let’s start with how to LOAD your new razor.

How To Hold Your Single Edge

How To Hold Your Single Edge

This isn't a plastic, throw-away razor.

The Single Edge is made from solid metal, giving it heft, weight, and a different feel from any other razor you've held.

A heavy razor? It's a good thing because the razor does all the work. You don't.

Part of the journey to epic shaves is learning how to hold it throughout the duration of your shave.

Here's our step-by-step guide for your next great shave.

Step #1: Dry Hands

Starting out with dry hands will allow you to get a good grip as you prepare to mow down hair growth. Another customer hack? Adding a small amount of alum to the hands improves the grip-ability of your razor during the shave.

Step #2: Three Finger Grip

Using your dominant hand, hold the middle of your handle between your thumb and your middle finger. Then, place your index finger on the back of the razor to balance and guide short, light strokes. Be sure to let the weight of the fully metal razor do all the work. No need to hulk smash the razor to get a closer shave.

Step #3: Keep It Light

Cradling the razor with the rest of your fingers, take light strokes moving with the grain of your beard growth. You should be using the same amount of pressure that you would use if you were shaving a balloon.

Keep it light and easy.

Step #4: The Upside Down

Sometimes to stay with the grain, you'll have to adjust your grip. This is the next level. Flip the razor and repeat the three-finger grip - but upside down. Perfect for neck hair or a beard that has a mind of its own.

Step #5: Keep It Natural

When in doubt, do what feels natural and don't overthink it. These are suggestions, but we know all beards and shaves are unique. Enjoy the adventure and tag us with your shave. Sharing is caring.

How To Install A Blade

The Supply SE and Pro are injector-style razors. Our QuickLoad™ Cartridges may look like something new, but they’ve actually been in production for over 100 years.

Check out the video for how to load a sharp new blade in your razor, but don’t miss the step-by-step, super important tips below.

Install a Blade in a SE

Install a Blade in a Pro

Step-By-Step Tips:

Step #1: Load The “Key” Into Your Razor

Our blade pack has a key that fits into the right side of the razor head. Make sure you push the key all the way into the opening on the razor head until it stops.

Step #2: Pull The Slide Back

Find the slide on top of the injector pack, and pull it back, away from the razor. This action will pick up the new blade in the pack that’s ready to be installed.

Step #3: Pay Attention While Pushing The Blade In

Push the slide towards the razor, loading a new blade into the razor and ejecting the old. The blade should catch the old blade and push it out.

🚨 VERY IMPORTANT TIP: The blade should load straight into the razor. If it is loose, loading at an angle, on top of the existing blade, or most importantly, dragging on the blade stop, you will have a damaged blade. (See image above)

Damaged blade = Terrible, painful shave

- BLADE SHOULD LOAD STRAIGHT

- BLADE SHOULD NOT DRAG ON BLADE STOP

Step #4: Remove The Blade Pack

After your blade is successfully loaded, pull the key out of the razor and watch the tension in the razor set the blade in shaving position.

Step #5: Safely Store The Old Blade

There's a neat little opening on the back of our blade packs. Just slide your old blade into the back of the pack while you're using the rest of your blades. Then, once you’re finished with all 8 blades in your pack, toss the whole thing in the recycling bin.

Still got questions? Shoot us an email here.

LOAD your Single Edge

🛑 Don’t skip this step! Loading a blade incorrectly will damage the blade leading to terrible, painful shaves. Read through all the step carefully.

Once you’re ready, head to the next L, LATHER, at the link below: LATHER up for your first shave.

The Supply SE and Pro are injector-style razors and loading a new blade just became quick, easy, and super fun.

Step #3: Pay Attention While Pushing The Blade In

Push the slide towards the razor, loading a new blade into the razor and ejecting the old.

While loading, watch the cutting edge of the blade carefully to make sure it doesn’t drag on the blade stop. This is the most important tip of the entire bunch.

🛑 IMPORTANT BLADE LOADING NOTE: The blade should always load straight into the razor. If it is loose, loading at an angle, on top of the existing blade, or most importantly, dragging on the blade stop, you will have a damaged blade. (See image above for clarity)

Damaged blade = Terrible, painful shave

If you notice any irritation, uneven shaves, or nicks, 9 times out of 10 it has to do with the blade inside your razor. Load a new blade carefully before shaving again.

Step #4: Remove The Blade Pack

After your blade is successfully loaded, pull the key out of the razor and watch the tension in the razor set the blade in shaving position.

The next L is key to an excellent shave, and it is LATHER:

LATHER up for your first shave.

ℹ️ Already have an amazing lather whipped up? Head to the next L, LOGO.

What you do to prepare your skin for the shave is essential for the best shave possible.

Step #1: Start with warm water.

Warm water is your best friend during a shave. It's best to take a warm shower, wash your face or even just use a warm, damp towel to soften the hairs you're about to shave.

Step #2: Grab your gear.

Take a finger scoop of your shaving cream and rub it into the bottom of your bowl, container, or the palm of your hand. Run your shaving brush under warm water and push into cream. Then, begin to whip up your lather. It may take a little muscle, so don't be shy. Whip it good!

Step #3: Adjust lather consistency.

Small additions can change the overall texture of your lather. Want a thicker lather? Add a small amount of shave cream. Cream not whipping? Add a little more water and use vigorous, circular motions to activate cream.

Don't forget to get the thick lather stuck inside the brush. Starting at the base of the bristle knot, squeeze upward to retrieve a nice amount of lather to add to skin.

Step #4: Take your time.

Shaving often feels like a chore - but it doesn't have to. Think of it like a massage: the warm water, the scents, exfoliation, and smooth glide of the razor can be pretty relaxing.

Apply lather for your first pass and enjoy it. If you need a second pass, we recommend relathering areas before taking a second run.

LOGO - Find the correct blade angle.

ℹ️ After you find the angle, it’s time for the last L, LIGHTLY, at the link below: LIGHTLY - Don’t use ANY pressure.

Luckily, we’ve made it easy for you to find the proper angle to hold your razor. Just place the Supply logo (that’s on the head of the razor) flat on your skin. That’s it.

You’ll know you have the correct angle if the shaving cream is complete swept away - along with your hairs. If you have the SE and are seeing “tread marks” left in the cream, you don’t have the right angle. Adjust until you find it, and once you do, you’ll know it!

After you find your angle with the LOGO, it’s time for your last L, LIGHTLY:

LIGHTLY - Don’t use ANY pressure.

Repeat after me: NO pressure!

The Single Edge uses a very sharp blade that is effective at mowing down the thickest beard out there. There's no need to press on the razor while using it. Think of shaving as sweeping or slicing the hair off your face - allow the weight of the razor to do the work for you!

Take a look at Patrick's #1 tip in this quick, 60-second video:

The SE Razor

Meet the SE

The convenience of a multi-blade meets the quality of a Single Edge.

Since we launched our first Single Edge, we’ve fielded questions, comments and feedback about the learning curve that comes with Single Edge, and really all safety razors.

We started the single blade revolution when we launched the Single Edge back in 2015. The only drawback was some customers needed additional assistance working through the learning curve of shaving with a single blade razor.

We love the 2.0. It’s beautiful. It delivers an incredible shave. Over 2000 five star reviews confirm it. Still our customer feedback had us thinking. What if we made a Single Edge that shaves easily? No nicks. No cuts. No learning curve.

This thought led us back to the drawing board, which is actually a fancy CAD program, a TON of meetings with an elite team of engineers (including one of our Founders, Patrick), and a literal white board. We’re old school like that.

After 2 years of development, the result was the Single Edge SE. A safety razor that's actually safe. We think you’re going to absolutely love it.

SE Reviews

How do we know? We reached out to a select group of customers to test our prototypes, and they absolutely loved the shave. And now with customer reviews pouring in, the feedback has been overwhelmingly AMAZING.

It might look simple on the surface, but there's a lot going on worth noting. So, settle in, because we’re about to give you the full rundown of our new SE.

With these fins, skin can't get in.

We keep saying it, but it's true. The Single Edge SE is for every-body.

We were proud of our first single edge. The 2.0 gives an incredible shave and offers unique customization to single edge shaving. But, we are ecstatic about the SE.

There’s no need to worry about cuts. Cuts are caused by skin getting trapped underneath the blade as you shave. Our NickStop™ fins are perfectly placed to stop skin from getting stuck under the blade, while still allowing hair to cut clean.

What is NickStop™ Technology?

The secret is 16 perfectly-spaced, precision fins. This is something you won’t find anywhere else.

With these fins, skin can't get in.

Our fins are designed to lift and guide the hair to the blade. Hair and shaving cream are allowed to pass through the fins without the pulling you would experience with other razors. They protect your skin without compromising the smooth shave of our Single Edge.

There's a reason the SE stands for our Sensitive Edition. Don't compromise on the closeness of a shave due to your sensitive skin. You can have both.

For Every-Body

The SE is opening the door to single blade shaving for all parts of your body. Beards, bodies, bald heads - we got ‘em covered. It doesn’t matter who you are or how you shave -  the SE is designed to handle hair everywhere.

We invite you to take our precision fins with and against the grain of your face. It’s perfect for our head shaving customers. Plus, it will keep your armpits, neck and legs incredibly smooth.

The SE was designed with all of your body in mind.

It might sound bold, but it’s true.

The blade is still sharp. The handle is still balanced with a great weight, so you don’t have to apply any pressure during your shave. The key difference? Our 16 fins make it safe - and easy - to shave anywhere.

What’s the knob on the SE?

The small knob on the Supply SE is a screw that holds the razor together. It includes a “captive” spring that puts enough tension on the setting and handle to hold them together, while ensuring that the jaws also open up wide enough to accept a new blade.

ℹ️ The only reason you’ll ever want to adjust this screw is to take apart the razor for cleaning.

Otherwise, leave it finger-tight and do not adjust it during shaving. Loosening it will in turn lead to a loose blade within your razor. And if this happens, it may result in the blade slipping out of the razor - which would be extremely dangerous.

What is NickStop Technology?

Our new Single Edge SE is available now. Yes. Right now.

We’ve been casually talking about it since our Kickstarter campaign this past October, but as soon as men and women start receiving their SE, the world will be introduced to the power of NickStop™  Technology.

Sounds fancy? Unnecessary? Well, it's anything but that. People like you will get to see what it’s like to use a safety razor shave without the learning curve or the worry of nicks and cuts.

NickStop™ Technology

What does it actually mean? The definition is in the name: NickStop™.. We created it to stop nicks and cuts during your shave.

But it’s not all in the name. NickStop™  Technology also gives the SE all the ease of shaving with a multi-blade razor while still maintaining the quality (& sustainability) of a safety razor. It's common knowledge that a safety razor shave is far superior to anything a multi-blade can do for you.

So, why do billions of people still use multi-blade razors for their morning shave? Convenience. Multi-blades are fast (if nothing else). But your skin pays the price for the ease of speed.

We admit (& don’t apologize) that it will take longer to use a safety razor to shave. The prep. The precision of the shave. The post shave ending. It’s a process. A ritual. We believe that your shave should be a way to slow down, enjoy the little things in your day, and most of all cultivate confidence to be your best self to conquer the day.

But the best part about the SE? Our NickStop™  technology will allow you to shave quickly and safely with your SE.

Fins on a Razor?

Yes. 16 of them to be exact. They are what the major drivers behind our NickStop™  technology.

They are precisely placed along the safety bar to push skin out of the way while lifting and guiding hair to the blade. There's just enough space for hair and shaving cream to make it through the gaps between each fin, so you only cut hair and never skin.

For wet shaving enthusiasts, these fins might look like the teeth of an open comb razor, but they operate completely different. Instead of increasing your skin’s exposure to the blade, they create a safer barrier. Open combs are great, but they require significant practice to perfect the technique required to use them effectively.

The fins on the SE will let first time safety razor shavers feel like a pro from the very first pass. NickStop™  is here to flatten the learning curve.

Reduced Nicks and Cuts = Increased Confidence

That’s not just increased confidence in your ability to use your SE. It’s confidence in the way you look - and feel - every time you use it.

The 75% decrease in nicks and cuts leads to your 100% increase in confidence.

Think about it, if you knew that you didn’t have to worry about your razor giving you nicks, cuts, razor burn or ingrown hairs every time you used it, how much would you love your morning shave?

We’re guessing a lot more than you do right now.

Now it’s Up to You

Order your SE today and see what NickStop™  Technology can do for you.

What is the SE made out of?

Our SE razors are made from die-cast zinc alloy, coated with aerospace-grade PVD chrome. This finish allows us the ability to offer multiple colors for your Single Edge razor.

What does PVD mean?

Not being satisfied with the status quo, we specified Physical Vapor Deposition (PVD) as our coating process for all of our razors. Most safety razors use a traditional electroplating process that can chip, fade, and peel over time. We use an entirely different process.

PVD is an extremely durable coating that is typically used in Aerospace and Automotive applications. I can’t tell you how proud I am of this. As far as I’m aware, we are the only razor manufacturer that uses this process to coat zinc-alloy razors.

How do the SE’s fins work and what’s their benefit?

With these fins, skin can’t get in.

Nicks and cuts are caused by skin getting trapped underneath the blades. Our patent-pending Nickstop™ Technology is here to make that a thing of the past. Driven by 16 precision fins perfectly placed along the safety bar, only hair reaches the samurai sword sharp blade.

The SE fins guide the hair to the blade. They stop your skin from getting caught under the blade and allow hair to pass through for a clean, precision-close shave. They allow you to safely shave anywhere on your body.

And they speed up the process of body shaving because the fins protect the skin while still giving a close shave.

How to clean the SE

The SE is designed to be easy to rinse and clog-free. Water should easily pass through it, so that hair and cream easily clear out between each pass.

With long periods of use, hair and shaving cream residue sometimes can build up, leading to the need for a SE deep clean.

Here’s our simple guide to get started:

Start with Water

The first step is to leave your SE under hot running water. This will wash off any hairs that are hanging onto the razor handle and the blade. It should also wash away any shaving cream residue.

After you rinse it out, shake out any excess water remaining.

Break Out the Sponge

Sometimes removing shaving cream residue requires more than just hot water. It’s safe to use dish soap and a soft brush or sponge to scrub your razor. It won’t damage the finish and will effectively remove any residue. Don’t be shy - scrub away.

Just be sure to thoroughly rinse and dry your SE when you’re finished washing and scrubbing it.

Time to Sterilize

Multi-blade razors are known for growing bacteria between shaves since they don’t rinse out well. Skin, cream, and hair lives between the blades and grows all kinds of undesirable germs. But we digress.

The SE does not have that problem, but that doesn’t mean it isn’t good to sterilize it on a semi-regular basis. To start, give your SE a short dip in rubbing alcohol. This will kill germs and remove any water build up in the tighter nooks of the razor. Follow up with Barbicide or any other barber grade cleaner to fully sterilize it.

You don’t need to do this every time you want to clean your SE, but it’s a good habit to get into for a solid shaving ritual.

Going Deeper

If you’re ready to take your cleaning routine a step further, you’re going to need to remove the SE setting from the razor. This will get any hair or cream that’s gotten stuck behind the setting or the blade.

All you have to do is loosen the screw completely from the handle. Remember that unscrewing the setting from the body will cause the blade to fall out. So, make sure you’re ready to change your blade when you want to clean your SE this way. Also, there should always be a small spring loaded around the screw. Be careful not to lose this when loosening.

After removing the setting, follow the steps above. Rinse it out with hot water. Scrub it with dish soap with a sponge or soft brush. Dip it in rubbing alcohol and Barbicide.

Then, put your setting back on and load a new blade.

Don’t Leave it Lying Down

Our Razor Stand is one of the best ways to keep your razor clean and dry between each shave. After you rinse it out, shake out the water and place it in the stand. Leaving your SE in the Stand between shaves will keep your blades from rusting, making them last longer.

The Stand will also make your SE a statement piece next to your sink.

Can I use the SE setting on the 2.0 model?

Yes, the SE setting will be compatible with the 2.0 model.

What is the purpose of the screw?

One of the major differences between the Single Edge SE and the Pro is the number of shave settings that comes with the razor. The Single Edge SE ships with one single shave setting that should give anyone a close comfortable shave without risk of ingrown hairs or irritation. The Pro includes a brand new shave dial that helps the user effortlessly dial up their shave from sensitive setting 1 to the most aggressive setting 6.

Which brings us to a very common question we get from customers: what is the purpose of the screw on the Single Edge SE model? I’m glad you asked. The SE can be completely disassembled into 3 separates parts: the razor handle, the screw, and the SE shave setting. If you loosen and completely remove the screw, you will notice a spring loaded around the base of the screw. This spring is what creates the tension and allows the razor to accept and eject the razor blade during the injection process. A plus of this design is also that you can easily deep clean all parts of the SE razor by completely disassembling it. See more here:

Spring-Loaded Screw

The spring-loaded screw is one of three parts that make up the SE razor. It is integral to the blade loading process by allowing the injection of a new blade and creating the tension between the setting and the razor handle to keep it in place throughout your shave.

What is the purpose of the screw?

Blade Loading Keyhole

When you open up your SE razor for the first time, you’ll notice a keyhole on the right side of the razor head when the razor blade is facing you. This hole is where you will insert the QuickLoad™ cartridge to insert your first blade and eject the red “dummy” blade that comes preinstalled in the razor.

You’ll notice that when you insert your QuickLoad™ cartridge, there will be a small amount of space created between the shave bar and razor handle in order to receive and eject the blade. Once you remove the QuickLoad™ cartridge from the keyhole, you’ll notice the tension that snaps the blade into shaving mode.

NickStop™ Precision Fins

The SE comes with NickStop™ technology, which is powered by 22 precision fins lining the shaving bar. These fins are designed to guide your hair directly to the blade for a super close shave, all while pushing skin away to minimize irritation or nicks.

Meet the Pro

Tom Brady has a football. Michael Jordan had a basketball. Picasso had his brush. Hemingway had his pen.

Every master needs a tool they can depend on.

You may not be winning championship rings, painting masterpieces or drunkenly writing the next great American novel, but you can take your morning shave to the next level. You’re a shaving pro, and you need, no - you deserve, a razor that lives up to your level of skill.

Meet The Single Edge Pro

A culmination of six years of razor design, dreaming, and listening to customer feedback, the Pro takes the art of single blade shaving to the next level.

Our most advanced design, the Single Edge Pro took two years of multiple iterations (and countless prototypes) to dial in a razor with unrivaled customization.

You may have seen customization similar to this on much older razors. A giant disc, knob, wheel, or whatever sitting on top of a safety razor, creating an obstacle for the shaver’s hand as they try to take a clean pass on their face.

We didn't want to compromise your shave or our sleek design. So, we built our shave dial conveniently and discreetly into the Pro. You won’t even notice it’s there until you ready to use it.

It puts the most customized shave directly into your practiced hands.

The Dial

Six primary settings give way to thirty micro-settings to help you dial in your shave to the exact specification and preference of your unique beard, throughout your shave.

At an even closer look, there’s only .7 of a mm difference between settings 1 and 6. And all thirty micro-settings differ by only hundredths of a mm. Our shave dial gives the most precise shave you’ve ever had. And didn't know you wanted - until now.

It might seem like we’re splitting hairs here, but every beard map is unique. Seasoned safety razor users know their face, neck, and chin prefer different levels of aggression throughout a shave.

With the Pro, you can move between each setting with ease. All it takes is a flick of our shave dial.

The 1 setting is perfect for more sensitive areas of skin, or you can mow down whatever hair is in your way by dialing all the way up to six. Your perfectly customized shave rests somewhere on our dial.

How to Shave with The Pro

So, you just unboxed the Pro, or you’re anxiously anticipating it’s arrival. Whether it’s already in your hands or on it's way, we want to make sure you get the best shave from the very first pass.

Step One: Load a Blade

Your Pro comes with a red, dummy blade to help you correctly load your first blade. Grab the Black Label blade pack that was packed underneath the tray in your razor box.

To load a new blade, insert the key into the slot on the right side of the head of your razor. Pull back on the slide to pick up a blade. Push it forward and ping. A new blade is loaded, and your Pro is ready to go.

For a video of the same process with our 2.0, click here.

Also, your Pro may feel slightly tight when inserting your blade pack for the first time. Like breaking in your favorite leather, it will get much easier each time.

If for some reason you’re unable to even push the blade in, please shoot us an email to help@supply.co. We’ll get you taken care of.

Step Two: Prep Your Face

If possible, we recommend shaving after a hot shower. The heat and moisture will help lift the hairs from your face, making it easier for our extra-sharp blade to sweep the hair away as it glides across your skin.

If you don’t have time for a shower, quickly rinse your face with hot water or warm, steamy wash cloth. It will have a similar effect.

Want extra credit? Take it one step further and cleanse or exfoliate your skin before your shave with our amazing-for-you face wash or face scrub. Learn more:

Feel Good Face Wash

Step Three: Lather Up

To get the best results from your Pro, always use a thick cushion of lather to protect your skin. We also recommend using a shave brush to help whip up the lather and prep your beard during the application.

Need a good rec? Try our Ultra Lather Shaving Cream to build a truly epic lather. It acts as a cushion between the blade and your skin. Plus, it also replenishes your skin as you shave with powerful, plant-based ingredients.

Step Four: Choose Your Setting

This is what sets the Pro apart from every other safety razor on the market: your ability to choose between 6 main settings and 30 micro-settings. Our shave dial lets you move from one setting to the next with just a move of your thumb.

The dial adjusts the amount of space between the blade and the safety bar, also known as blade exposure. Learn how to find which setting at the link below:

How does the Shave Dial work?

Founder note: the difference between settings is hundredths of a millimeter. While it might not seem like the bar is moving, the minute movement has an exponential impact on the closeness of your shave.

How does the Shave Dial work?

Meet unrivaled customization at the tip of your fingertips. Changing the closeness of your shave is as simple as a quick flick of the thumb. Whether you’ve used the Single Edge for years, you’re a wetshaving veteran, or interested in taking your shave to the next level, the shave dial on our Pro is sure to make every shave legendary.

When we say even more customizable, we mean it. There’s only .7mm between the 1 setting and 6 settings. That means there are only hundredths of a millimeter between each micro-setting. To the naked eye, it may not seem like there is much movement happening when you switch a setting. But, believe us, a hundredth of a mm difference will change the precision of your shave.

Speaking of shave, here’s a quick guide on how to pick the perfect setting for you:

For Current 2.0 Users:

If you’re coming from the previous 2.0 version of the Single Edge, the 1-6 settings are designed like the 1-3 setting system. The difference with the Pro model is that there are even more customizable options with 30 micro-settings between 1 and 6. You can adjust to any of them without having to worry about the dial moving.

PRO Setting Breakdown:

If you like the 1-dot Sensitive, use the 1 on PRO

If you like the 2-dot you’ll like the 3 on the PRO

If you like the 3-dot you’ll like 4,5 and 6 on the PRO

For First-Time Single Edge Users:

The best place to start is on the 1 setting. It will be the mildest shave setting of all, but will be the perfect starting ground for learning the technique and unique weight of your new Pro.

Once you’ve taken a pass with the 1 setting, feel free to dial it up for a closer shave, remembering the 6 setting will be the most aggressive of all with the least forgiveness if you happen to have bad technique.

Insider Tip: we’ve found most customers enjoy the 3-4 setting range for the shave.

How do I choose the right setting for me?

If you bought the Supply Pro because you wanted more customization, you made the right choice. But choosing the right setting for you is a key step in getting the best shave.

Here’s how you can dial in your Pro shave from the first pass.

The Dial

The Dial on the Pro moves the safety bar up and down, increasing or decreasing the blade exposure. Blade exposure is the space between the safety bar and the blade.

The more exposed the blade is, the more aggressive the shave will be. More blade exposure means the blade comes in closer contact with your skin, allowing more hair to reach the blade at one time. Less blade exposure means the blade doesn’t make as much contact with your skin, leading to a milder shave.

The numbers on the dial represent blade exposure. 1 is the least amount of blade exposure or mildest shave, while the 6 setting is the most exposure and aggressive setting.

ℹ️ Fun Fact: There is only .7mm of space between the 1 setting and 6 setting. This means changing from the 1 setting to the 2 setting will only move the blade .11mm and so on for each setting up the dial. This is a tiny amount of adjustment that makes a huge amount of difference in the feel and closeness of your shave.

How do you know which setting to use?

The settings are marked 1-6.

• 1 is the most mild setting.

• 6 is the most aggressive.

There are 6 total main settings and 28 micro-settings in between 1 and 6.

Our general recommendation is to start with the 1 setting, especially if you have sensitive skin or it’s your first time with a safety razor. It’s the most forgiving, but it will still give you a close shave. If it’s too mild for you, you can always move up.

If the 1 setting doesn’t shave as close as you want bump up to the 2 or 3 setting and keep adjusting from there. The best part is you can use multiple settings while you shave. The milder settings (1-2) are great for more sensitive or hard-to-navigate areas (under the nose, the jawline, etc.). The more aggressive settings (4-6) will give you a smooth shave on the first pass on places like your cheeks and down your neck.

Plus, adjusting your setting is as easy as moving your thumb up and down. So, switching mid-shave is no problem.

If you're coming from the Single Edge 2.0:

The range of adjustment on the Pro is designed to roughly mimic the range of adjustment on the 2.0. The difference is, it gets a bit more mild on the low end and a bit more aggressive on the high end.

The 1 setting is milder than the “mild” setting of the 2.0.

The 6 setting is more aggressive than the “aggressive” setting of the 2.0.

If you liked the 1-dot sensitive setting, use the 1 on our PRO. For our 2-dot comfortable setting, you’ll find the 3 comparable. And for our ultra close 3-dot setting, you'll be able to dial in the aggressiveness between our 4 and 6 settings on the Pro.

Many of our shavers who have switched from the 2.0 to the Pro are saying that it gives a much closer shave.

How to clean the Pro

If you’ve used your Pro for a few shaves, it might be time for a deep clean. Luckily, we design the base plate on your Pro to be removable, allowing you clean out any shaving cream or stray hairs stuck back there.

Here’s a quick guide to clean it up in four easy steps.

1. Remove the Cover

Find the key on your QuickLoad™ Cartridge, which is the part of the blade pack that is inserted into the head of the razor when loading a new blade.

Place the tip of the key underneath the bottom of the cover, and use it as a lever to pop the cover off. You won’t need to use too much force. It should come right off.

2. Rinse and Brush

Once you’ve removed the cover, rinse out the inside of the razor with a small amount of water. Then, grab a toothbrush you never plan on using in your mouth and start scrubbing.

You shouldn’t need to scrub vigorously if you clean out your razor on a consistent basis. There may be some shaving cream residue and some hair from previous shaves. When you’re finished scrubbing, give the razor a rinse again.

3. Dry it Off

Use a towel to dry off any excess water. If you want to get really detailed, you can use a Q-Tip to soak up any extra drops of water after you use the towel.

This is necessary so you don’t leave any water residue in your razor. Please watch the video below:

How to clean the Pro

4. Put the Cover Back On

Last, the cover should just snap back into place. This is the easiest step, but if we don’t keep it on the list, someone will leave the cover off. That “someone” is obviously not you. But just to be safe, put the cover back on.

The Anatomy of the Pro Razor

Blade Loading Keyhole

When you open up your Pro razor for the first time, you’ll notice a keyhole on the right side of the razor head when the razor blade is facing you.

How To Install A Blade

Shave Setting Bar

The shave setting bar is what controls the amount of blade exposure that comes in contact with your skin during your shave. In turn, this controls the closeness of the shave you’ll receive from you Single Edge Pro.

When the shave dial is on the 1 setting, you will have the least amount of blade exposure, which is best for customers struggling with sensitive skin. When the shave dial is on the 6 setting, you will have the maximum amount of blade exposure, the closest shave possible, and the least forgiving setting of the Pro. We recommend starting with the 3 setting and dialing up and down from there.

For even more information about what setting is right for you, check out:

How do I choose the right setting for me?

Dial Cover

This is the plate that surrounds the shave dial. It is the only removable piece of the Pro razor, and it’s purpose is to protect and cover the intricate mechanisms inside the Pro razor. If you’d like to deep clean your Pro razor, you will want to remove the dial cover from the razor handle. To do that, you can use the key on your QuickLoad™ cartridge to pop the cover off by insert it into the drain hole.

To see more, check out:

How to clean the Pro

Drain Hole

The drain hole serves two purposes for the Pro razor. It allows soapy water and hair to drain from inside of the razor and out - reducing any clogging within the razor. It also allows you to remove your Dial Cover for deep cleaning inside the razor.

Shave Dial

The shave dial will control what setting your Pro razor is shaving your hair. It has 6 primary shave settings with 30 micro-settings in between to help you find your perfect and custom shave. Easily dial your shave up and down throughout your shave, depending on the closeness you desire for different skin regions.

Troubleshooting FAQs

Help! My razor is not shaving

If you're experiencing a patchy or uneven shave with your Supply razor, I have good news for you: this is not how your razor is supposed to work.

Thankfully, this is one of the easiest problems to fix. Here’s some quick tips:

Fix #1: Replace your dull or damaged blade.

This is almost always the issue. A blade’s cutting edge can be damaged during the blade loading process if it drags along the blade stop. You’ll know if your blade is tugging your skin or giving you the patchy, terrible shave.

To fix it, simply insert a new blade. While you do, be certain that the blade edge is not dragging along the blade stop while it goes in.

Trust me when I say that almost 99% of the time this is the cause of your problem.

Blade Direction

Fix #2: Adjust your angle.

We made it super easy and simple to find the right angle with your razor. Just place the logo on the head of your razor flat on your skin, then begin sweeping the hair away. Remember, no pressure.

***Insider Tip: You’ll know you’ve found the right spot when the razor completely sweeps the shaving cream clean away. You shouldn’t see any residue or “tread marks” from the SE fins left behind in your shaving cream.

If you do, reposition the razor and try again until you don’t. Once you find it, you’ll feel it.***

Shaving Right

ℹ️ Important Note: Whatever you do, do not press down on your razor to get a closer shave. This is not the correct technique and will lead to nicks, cuts, irritation, and more.

Reach out so we can help.

Truthfully, the above fixes should take care of the problem for you rather easily. If you're finding that after trying a new blade (or two!), and adjusting your angle you're still having issues, then something weird might be going on.

Simply email us here and let us know you've tried the steps above.

Help! My razor isn’t shaving close enough.

Wanting a closer shave? We got your back. Here’s a few tips:

Tip #1: Find the Right Angle

We made it super easy and simple to find the right angle with your razor. Just place the logo on the head of your razor flat on your skin, then begin sweeping the hair away. Remember, no pressure.

Insider Tip: You’ll know you’ve found the right spot when the razor completely sweeps the shaving cream clean away. You shouldn’t see any residue or “tread marks” from the SE fins left behind in your shaving cream. If you do, reposition the razor and try again until you don’t. Once you find it, you’ll feel it.

Shaving Right

Tip #2: Map your beard grain.

If you haven’t mapped your beard before, stop what you’re doing and do it now. It’s easy and takes at most 5-10 minutes. You can see our full guide linked below:

How to Map your Beard Grain

Then, once you know your beard map, take note of where you’re getting nicks and cuts. In these areas, you’re going to want to shave with the grain (WTG). If you’re still needing a closer shave after shaving WTG, relather and shave with the grain (WTG) or across the grain (XTG) one more time. Avoid shaving against the grain in any sensitive areas.

What is Two-Pass Shaving?

Tip #3: Try a fresh blade.

If the above didn’t work, it’s time to load a new blade. There’s a chance your blade may have dulled or damaged when loading.

Switching blades

When loading your blade, watch the cutting edge making sure it loads straight into the razor, above the blade stop, instead of dragging on the blade stop.

Help! I’m getting razor burn.

This definitely shouldn’t be happening. But if it is, there’s a few tips we can take to eliminate it. You've got this. 💪

Tip #1 Change out your blade.

🛑 Almost 99% of the time, the issue is a damaged or dull blade in your razor caused by the blade not loading straight into the razor, but dragging on the blade stop.

Switching Blades

A damaged blade will irritate, burn, and nick up your skin throughout your shave. To fix it, simply load a new blade into your razor. While you’re loading, watch closely that the blade edge is not dragging along the blade stop while it goes in. Instead, the blade should stay above the blade stop during the loading process.

As soon as you pull your QuickLoad™ blade pack out of the razor, the tension will gently push the blade into the shaving position, resting on the blade stops. See the in-depth tutorial here:

LOAD your Single Edge

Tip #2 Use the correct angle.

Shaving Right

We made it super easy to find the right angle with your razor. Just place the logo on the head of your razor flat on your skin, then begin sweeping the hair away. Remember, no pressure.

💡 Insider Tip: You’ll know you’ve found the right spot when the razor completely sweeps the shaving cream clean away. You shouldn’t see any residue or “tread marks” from the SE fins left behind in your shaving cream. If you do, reposition the razor and try again until you don’t. Once you find it, you’ll feel it.

Tip #3 Don’t use any pressure.

We mean it. This is a top reason why you’ll get razor burn. Break the habit and the idea that pressing down on your razor will get you a closer shave. It won’t.

Instead, let the weight of the razor do all the work, sweeping away the hair with a sharp, precise blade.

Tip #4 Use protective shaving cream.

Your shaving cream serves as a protective cushion between your skin and the blade. So, if the layer of your shaving cream is too thin, your shave may result in some nicks and cuts.

If you’re using our shaving cream, make sure you’re not watering it down too much.

For tips on how to get the best lather, check out our in-depth tutorial:

LATHER up for your first shave.

Tip #5 For Pro users, bump down a setting.

Pro dial

Changing to a milder setting may help with irritation if your current setting is too aggressive for your skin.

If this is your first time using a safety razor, we recommend starting with the 1 setting and dialing up from there. The 1 is our most sensitive - and least aggressive - setting, allowing the least amount of hair to reach the blade. You’ll probably need more than one pass to get a close shave, but it’ll be the most forgiving setting while you adjust your technique.

Help! I'm getting nicks and cuts

If you’re dealing with any nicks or cuts, there’s definitely something wrong. Here’s how to help:

#1 Your blade may be dull or damaged.

If while you’re shaving you feel the blade tugging your skin or giving an uneven shave plus your nicks, the probable cause is a dull or damaged blade.

🛑 IMPORTANT: A blade will damage during the loading process if the cutting edge drags on the blade stop, it’s loose, loads at an angle, or loads on top of another blade.

The good news is it’s easy to fix. Carefully reload a new blade, watching the cutting edge the whole time. It should stay above the blade stop during the loading process. As soon as you pull your QuickLoad™  blade pack out of the razor, the tension will gently push the blade into the shaving position, resting on the blade stops.

See our in-depth tutorial below:

LOAD your Single Edge

#2 Don’t Use Pressure.

We mean it. This wrong technique will lead to cuts. Break the habit and the idea that pressing down on your razor will get you a closer shave. It won’t.

Instead, let the weight of the razor do all the work, sweeping away the hair with a sharp, precise blade.

#3 Use the correct angle.

We made it super easy and simple to find the right angle with your razor. Just place the logo on the head of your razor flat on your skin, then begin sweeping the hair away. Remember, no pressure.

🛑 Insider Tip: You’ll know you’ve found the right spot when the razor completely sweeps the shaving cream clean away. #4 Use protective shaving cream.

Your shaving cream serves as a protective cushion between your skin and the blade. So, if the layer of your shaving cream is too thin, your shave may result in some nicks and cuts.

If you’re using our shaving cream, make sure you’re not watering it down too much.

It should look like this:

See our in-depth tutorial here:

LATHER up for your first shave.

#5 Experiment with your unique beard map.

If you haven’t mapped your beard before, stop what you’re doing and do it now. It’s easy and takes at most 5-10 minutes. You can see our full guide linked below:

How to Map your Beard Grain

Once you have your beard map, take note where you’re getting nicks and cuts. In these areas, you’re going to want to shave with the grain (WTG). 🚨 A Note for Pro Users: Using a higher setting on your Pro will give you a closer shave but also has a higher risk of nicks and cuts due to poor technique. If you can’t seem to get a nick-free cut from your Pro, dial down your setting.

Help! What is this red blade?

On the day your Single Edge SE or Pro arrives on your doorstep, there has never been more excitement for a good shave. We’ve had customers reach out with concern when they see a red blade installed in their razor, and we’re here to set the record straight.

The red blade is NOT used for shaving.

Why is there a red blade installed in my razor?

Internally (and in our instructions) we refer to this red blade as a “dummy” blade, meaning it’s a placeholder and has zero sharpness to it. If you tried to shave with it, you’d probably think you’ve been duped into purchasing a really nice-looking toy razor.

The reason it’s there is to assist customers with their first blade loading. It should be very easy to do, but it is much easier to load a razor that already has a blade in place than a “blank” razor. It also minimizes the likelihood of the razor blade getting damaged during the installation process.

I just got my razor and see the red blade. What do I do first?

Getting Started With Beard Products

How To Use Our Activating Beard Roller

What exactly is a beard roller? It's our high-performing derma-roller designed to stimulate your skin to encourage new beard growth. Titanium micro-needles housed on an aluminum handle provide a comfortable, anti-microbial rolling experience.

So, how to use it? It's easy.

Choose Your Frequency

For best results, choose two days during the week you'll be using the roller, ensuring there's at least one day of rest in between them. A rest day is necessary to allow your skin to process the benefits acquired through beard rolling.

An important note to remember: Rolling your beard more than this won't help your beard grow faster or increase the use results. Instead, it could actually cause damage to your skin if you used to frequently.

How To Roll

Pick up your Activating Beard Roller and gently roll it across the surface of your face and neck. You can roll in multiple directions: up and down, side to side or diagonally across the same area. Then, repeat this movement on the next region of your beard continuing to roll in different directions until you've covered your full beard.

This will create a “cross-hatching” effect that maximizes blood flow in your skin while increasing collagen production. Whatever you do, DO NOT use any pressure while rolling. The micro-needles will do all the work for you.

When Will I See Results?

This is the million-dollar question. And we hate to do this to you, but it truly varies for each individual.

Every man’s face is different. We've had some men see results in as little as four weeks, while others it has taken around 90 days. Stick with it and use alongside other beard products for maximum effectiveness.

How To Use Our Activating Beard Serum

A serum to help activate your beard? But, how?

We filled this with some of our favorite plant-based moisturizers, jojoba oil and shea butter, to soften both your skin and beard. So, as your beard grows in, it'll feel healthy and strong instead of abrasive, steel wool.

Coupled with the power of our proprietary growth blend featuring Biotin, Acetyl Tetra-Peptide 3, and Red Clover Flower, the Activating Bear Serum delivers nutrients directly to your beard follicles, helping produce new hairs while strengthening the beard you already have.

Instructions:

  1. Cleanse beard and towel dry before applying product.
  2. Pump 2-3 drops of serum in hands and vigorously massage it into beard and skin. Don't be shy. Really go for it.
  3. Let it soak in for at least 5 minutes before applying any other products to your beard or skin.
  4. Use daily, preferably in the morning. Remember the routine is the key.
  5. Pair the Serum with our Activating Beard Roller for the best results.

How To Use Our Beard Roller Refresher

Your Activating Beard Roller creates micro-channels in your skin every time you use it. That means it’s picking up skin cells and other microscopic debris with every roll. If you don’t clean your roller between uses, you run the risk of “stuff” growing on it.

This spray will keep your Roller clean between uses. It will kill any “stuff” trying to grow on your roller and extend the life of the titanium micro-needles.

What It Is

Our Beard Roller Refresher is a sanitizing combination of alcohol and aloe vera which kill germs and keep your Activating Beard Roller fresh and germ-free. It lets you cleanly and confidently continue on your beard-growing journey.

How To Use:

  1. Spray on your roller after each use and allow 1-2 minutes to dry.

That's it.

How To Use Our Beard Conditioner

Just because you have the ability to grow a beard doesn’t mean you should let it look and feel kin to steel wool protruding from a baseball glove leather.

We got your back. Introducing our contribution to beards everywhere: Fortifying Beard Conditioner. It will help keep it soft, strong, and growing better than the way nature intended.

Conditioner, Not Oil

Beard oil is typically used to moisturize and condition facial hair, which is great. We opted for a formula that functions as a conditioner which improves the overall look, feel, and manageability of the beard.

We specifically chose ingredients that help soften and condition the facial hair, while also providing your beard and skin with the necessary nourishment and hydration. Added bonus: It will also kill any beard itch and banish flakes. Nobody wants beard dandruff.

How To Use:

  1. Always apply it to a clean face. Use a wash and towel dry both beard and skin.
  2. Take a dime-sized amount and gently massage it into your beard, starting with the roots and working down to the tips. You may have to use more depending on the length and thickness of your beard.
  3. Allow the beard to dry for 1-2 minutes, then get on with your day.

The Correct Order To Use Beard Products

So, you grabbed our Ultimate Beard Set for a healthy beard, but don’t know where to start? Here’s the rundown on how to use our products and in what order.

1. Cleanse Your Beard.

Before you start, you should always wash your face and beard with warm water and a gentle face wash as a solid starting point. If you need a recommendation, our Feel Good Face Wash or Super Fresh Face Scrub are both aloe-based cleansers which will get the job done.

2. Activate Your Beard.

Grab your beard roller and roll in every direction over the areas you’d like to see new growth. Once finished, use Beard Roller Refresher on your roller in order to sanitize and prep for next use. Note: Do not roll beard every day, but allow at least one day of rest in between use. We recommend twice a week.

Once you’ve used your beard roller, apply 2-3 pumps of Activating Beard Serum to your clean, dry beard. Vigorously massage into your beard and skin. Don’t be shy. Allow to soak in for at least 5 minutes before applying any other products.

4. Style Your Beard.

Take a finger scoop of balm and rub between fingers. Apply to beard at the roots and move outward toward the tips to create desired style. Finish with a beard brush or comb to get the dapper look you’re going for. Enjoy!

All about Blades

What kind of blades does a Supply Razor accept?

The Single Edge accepts standard "injector" style blades. These blades were originally invented by Schick in the early 1900s and have been in continuous production for over 100 years. They can be easily purchased on our website, Amazon.com, and much more.

Each razor ships with a magazine of 8 stainless steel, Japanese-made injector blades. A pack of blades typically lasts up to three months and only cost $0.75 per blade to replace.

Injector blades are twice as thick as modern razor blades (and double edge blades), and tend to last twice as long. Most of our customers get 8-10 shaves from a single blade.

Visit this link to learn more.

Injector blades are non-proprietary to Supply - they were first invented by Col Jacob Schick in the early 1900s. They can be purchased at a number of online retailers. (But ours are the best 😉)

What is an “injector” blade?

There’s a reason more people are embracing injector-blade razors these days. It’s not just that satisfying click when you insert a new blade – or the sheer pleasure of using a tool which has been carefully engineered to make your life easier. It’s the fact that by ditching fussy alternatives, you can enjoy a cleaner, faster, and safer shave every time you pick up your razor.

Still not convinced? Let’s take a closer look at a few of the advantages of injector blades.

They're safe.

Let’s assume you’ve already taken the first step, and replaced your disposable, plastic razors with a sturdy single-edge. So, why choose injector blades specifically? Why not a more old-fashioned blade replacement system?

The problem with many single-edge razors is that you have to physically handle the blades every time you need a new one. Not only does this put you at risk of cutting your fingers – it also puts the blades at risk of sustaining microfissures or visible dents. This sets you up for a poor shave before you’ve even put the razor to your face.

Single Edge Injector Blades are designed to solve this problem. The injector mechanism acts as a protective sheath, separating your hand from the blades – and preventing damage to both.

They're quick and easy to change.

Nobody wants to spend their morning bent over the sink, fumbling with a tiny blade that just won’t attach properly. It’s a bit like handling a bar of soap in the shower – but more dangerous.

The Single Edge injector blade mechanism takes under a minute to master. Once you’ve gotten the hang of it, you’ll be switching blades at lightning speed – and saving precious time as you get ready for the day ahead.

They store used blades.

As anyone with small children or pets know, the trash bin in your bathroom is not the safest place to throw loose razor blades. Luckily, injector blades come in a compact container which has a dedicated, easy-to-use compartment for storing all your used blades – meaning everything stays securely in one place. The best part? Once you finish your last blade, just throw the entire pack, blades and all, into the recycling bin. No loose blades. No unintended accidents.

They last longer - and shave smoother.

Our Single Edge blades are twice as thick as double-edge blades and tend to last roughly twice as long. That’s an intentional design decision. While flimsy blades are profitable for the companies which sell them, we’ve always felt they don’t provide as great a shaving experience. After just a few uses, thinner blades tend to lose their edge in a noticeable way.

Besides lasting longer, thicker blades provide a more effortless shave. After all, the first advice we give people who buy our razor is to use zero pressure and let the blade do all the work. That in itself speaks volumes of the difference.

Are your blades proprietary?

No, they're not. We designed the Single Edge to be compatible with any standard injector blade pack. While we think our blades are the best quality around, you can find standard injector blades on Amazon, Walmart, Walgreens, and tons of other places.

Our main goal is to give you the best shave of your life. We know the 2.0 will do just that. Get the blades from us, from Amazon or your local convenience store.

What is the difference between Black and White Label Blades?

Great question! We've been selling our White Label blades since the very beginning. They're made in the USA and have been in production for over 100 years.

Our Black Label blades are made in Seki City, where state-of-the-art technology fuses with ancient Japanese forging skills to produce the most renowned shaving blades in the world. Each pack comes with 8 Japanese steel injector blades. We've had amazing feedback about the durability and comfort of these blades from customers who have used both.

The perfect razors need the perfect blade. So, allow us the pleasure of introducing our Black Label blades.

We went all the way to Japan to bring these to you.

Japanese Stainless Steel

Our Black Label blades are coming to you from the world-famous steel working capital of Seki City, Japan.

But wait…

Why is everyone so obsessed with Japanese steel? What’s the big deal?

Way back in the day, we’re talking 13th century back in the day, a famous Japanese sword maker named Motoshige moved to Seki City to start manufacturing his swords. He chose Seki for it's rich natural and material conditions, like quality iron, sand, charcoal, and water. People traveled from all over just to commission one of his swords.

And that's just the beginning of the long, storied history of Seki City steel. It’s been going for almost 800 years with no signs of stopping.

Over the past two years we’ve been partnering with one of Seki City’s elite steel companies. With 800 years of steel-forging excellence and state-of-the-art technology, our Black Label blades were born. They’re the sharpest, most durable injector blade in the world.

I mean, who doesn't want to shave like a samurai?

Sharper Blades = Safer Shave

This one might seem counterintuitive at first. Wouldn’t a sharper blade make it more likely for you to cut yourself, especially if you’ve never used a single blade razor before?

The truth is a sharper blade means a cleaner cut. Using a dull blade can lead to tugging on hair and pulling skin into the blade, which leads to nicks and cuts. Contrast that with a sharper blade which slices through hair with little to no effort.

A sharper blade means a smoother glide across your face, leaving you with an even closer shave.

One of our favorite things about any of our Single Edge razors is the way they glide across skin and literally sweep hair away with no effort. When you find that perfect angle it’s like the hair isn’t even there.

Black Label blades give that feeling times ten.

Cross Compatible With All Single Edge Razors

It doesn’t matter if you’re shaving your legs with our new SE or dialing in the customization with the Pro. Even if you're still loving our 2.0, you can use our new Black Label blades.

These Black Label blades will help you get that smooth shave you've always counted on. And just like our White Label packs, our Black Label blades are compatible with any version of the Single Edge or standard injector razor.

All The Black Label Details

Our Black Label blade packs come loaded with eight stainless steel blades that last up to three months of shaving. With our QuickLoad™ cartridge, the reload process is just as safe as our original injector blades. Lock and load a new blade in less than five seconds.

Also, did you know? Our blades are twice as thick as other DE and cartridge blades, lasting you twice as long.

Then, when you’re ready for a new blade, the old will eject and can easily slide into the back of the QuickLoad™ pack for safe keeping until you work your way through all 8 blades. Once finished, just take the whole pack and easily dispose of them in the recycling bin.

Shop Black Label Blades (3 Month Supply) - $8

How does the injector pack work?

When you need to come back for a refill, your 3-month supply will only cost $6. That's $24 a year for blades used with your Single Edge SE and Pro. Take a look at your most recent receipt for blade cartridges and do the math for a full year. How does it compare?

Injector blade changes are also lightning fast, simple to perform, and touch-free. Every Single Edge ships with an injector blade pack included in the box, so you're ready to go once your order arrives. The cartridge simply injects a new blade into the razor handle while simultaneously ejecting the old one - in less than five seconds, if that.

When you've ejected a used blade, just flip the pack around to the back, and you'll find a nifty opening to insert and store your used blades. No sharp objects lying in your trash can or recycling bin. Once you finish using all the blades in your pack, just recycle the entire thing: blades and all.

Safe. Cheaper. Better for the environment.

Customer Reviews

"Great blades, and an even greater price!!!" - Robert

"I just completed my #15 face and scalp shave. All 15 shaves were smooth and comfortable. 15 was the "up to" number of shaves that my previous overpriced Mach 3 blades stated they could guarantee." - Nick

"These blades are easy to put in the razor. They give some of the smoothest shaves that I have ever had. I highly recommend them!" - Willie V.

How do I manually insert a blade?

To manually insert a new blade, unscrew and take your razor apart. Any time you take apart your razor, it never hurts to take a look at the pieces, washing or wiping away any shaving cream residue or hair that may be hanging around.

Now, you want to put the razor pieces aside and eject a blade from the pack into your hand or the counter. Be careful when doing so! Our blades are very sharp. Once you have the loose blade, you want to place it in the setting of your choice. Make sure the cutting side is facing out, flush against the blade stops -- as shown below.

Then, screw in the setting while holding the blade in place with your thumb and index finger on either side of the setting, as shown in the picture above. Make sure your setting sort of "locks in" before screwing the razor back together. If your setting is not placed and fitted into the handle correctly, you could damage your Single Edge.

Below is a video example of a blade being placed under the head of the razor instead of on the setting as explained above. Either way will work!

All in all, anytime you take your razor apart, you will have to manually insert a blade.

How long do blades last?

The Single Edge revives a classic shaving style with a modern twist. That being said, your razor is only half of what gets you an incredibly close shave. The other half is a blade you can trust.

You can have a beautiful tool, but if the blade doesn't perform to your satisfaction, it's useless. Luckily, we got you covered.

Our Single Edge SE and Pro uses standard injector blades that are not proprietary to our razor. They may be new to you, but they have been in production for decades and can easily be found around the world.

Our blades are made in the United States by a manufacturer that has had them in production for over 100 years. Rest assured - they're going nowhere.

What's so great about them?

Glad you asked. Injector blades are twice as thick as blades used in both multi-blade cartridge razors and double edge safety razors. Why does this matter? It means they flex less, cut cleaner, and last longer. No flex means no blade chatter, which is a common issue with our competitor's razors, and the reason behind irritation, nicks, and cuts.

While we have some customers who can get up to 20 shaves from each blade, our average customer usually gets between 8-10 shaves before needing a new one.

You'll know it's time to change your blade when you're shaves aren't as smooth. Your blade may begin to tug skin or leave patches of hair behind. This is a sign that your blade is beginning to dull in places.

At this point, all you have to do is grab your trusty blade pack and quickly swap out a new blade. Since our blade pack ships with 8 blades inside the cartridge, one pack typically lasts up to three months of shaving!

Doesn’t a sharper blade mean it’s more dangerous?

Quite the opposite actually. Sharper blades = safer shave.

It might seem counterintuitive, but the truth is a sharper blade means a cleaner cut. Using a dull blade can lead to tugging hair, pulling the skin into the blade, and resulting in cuts. A sharper blade means a smoother glide across your face, leaving you with an even closer shave.

Who makes your blades?

Our blades are proudly made both in Japan (Black Label) and in the United States (White Label) by leading razor blade manufacturers.

How long do they last?

Everybody changes out their blades at different intervals due to the fact that our skin, hair, and preferences are all different. That said, most customers easily get 8 to 10 shaves out of each blade. A single pack of eight blades can last up to three months if you shave 5-6 times a week.

How do I dispose of used razor blades? Do they create waste?

Each Single Edge ships with a magazine of 8 stainless steel injector razor blades. If you look at the back of the pack, you will see a nifty opening to insert used blades. Once you finish your last blade, you can recycle the entire pack, stored blades and all.

Does the Single Edge accept "Artist Club" style blades?

Artist Club Blades are slightly larger than injector blades, and will not fit in the Single Edge. The Single Edge takes standard injector blades, which can be easily purchased on our website.

Shave Accessories & Skincare

In what order should I use my skincare products?

We created our Skin Essentials collection to help cut through the noise. We've always been committed to creating products you can depend on, made with the best ingredients on the planet. We had the same philosophy when developing this line, and the difference shows.

Here's our three-step routine to better skin with tips and all the steps you need for getting started.

STEP ONE: Feel Good Face Wash

The name isn't an overstatement. This face wash is designed to make you feel good. Just squeeze a dime size amount in your palm and work into a mild lather, either on your face or in your palm before applying. Since our formula is aloe-based, it require less product than you may think. The addition of a little water will activate the lather. Insider tip: start with a dime size, but feel free to go less in amount if you feel you don't need as much.

After applying lather to face, rinse with warm water to open up pores. We recommend using morning and night for best results - and especially before shaving.

STEP TWO: Multi-Purpose Moisturizer

After your face has been cleansed, gently massage a dime sized amount of moisturizer into your skin. Avoid coming in contact with your eye. A little goes a long way, and you may even find yourself only needing a pea size amount. It all depends on your skin's natural oils and skin type. We recommend using morning and night.

If shaving, wait to apply your moisturizer until after applying your Healing Post Shave. Since our post shave has a witch hazel and aloe foundation, it acts as a toner to correct and balance out the pH of your skin. After toning, using a solid moisturizer locks in hydration and protects from harsh environmental damage to skin.

STEP THREE: Age Defense Eye Cream

The one product most don't know they need. After moisturizing, it's time to brighten dark circles, combat puffiness, and renew aging skin cells - all with your trusty, vitamin-packed eye cream.

Using your fingertip, scoop out a small amount. Trust me - a little goes a long way. Apply eye cream morning and night under and around the outside of your eye, rubbing in fully. Make sure the product doesn't come in contact with your eye.

Why should I use a moisturizer?

This is a popular question from a lot of our male customers.

We know it seems like just another step to add to your morning routine. But trust us when we say it’s absolutely essential. Your skin, especially the skin on your face, takes a beating every single day: the sun, the wind, your hands, other people’s hands, dirt in the air, other “stuff” in the air, your pillowcase, and A LOT more.

All those events pull moisture from your skin, giving you that dry feeling that makes your skin look tired and (we’ll say it again) age prematurely.

A moisturizer is your way to fight against everything your skin deals with all day. It puts nutrients back into your skin. It strengthens the moisture barrier on your face. It fights against the negative effects of the sun. It holds off wrinkles.

Ours is oil-free, so you don’t have to worry about it clogging your pores and causing outbreaks. Plus, it feels amazing just out of the shower or after a clean shave.

If you want healthy, young-looking skin on your face, use a moisturizer. If you want a moisturizer that has ingredients to make your skin even better, use ours.

Meet the Grip Sleeve

Our new Grip Sleeve fits perfectly over the handles of the new Supply SE or Supply Pro. Order your SE or Pro and matching Grip Sleeve here.

The Single Edge is designed to give you the smoothest shave ever. We engineered the blade angle to be intuitive and rest perfectly on your face. The razor has a good kind of heft to it. The weight is one of the first things people comment on when they hold it for the first time. And we made it beautiful.

Seriously, have you seen these things? They’re sleek. The handle is as smooth as the shave the Single Edge delivers.

The only problem with such a sleek design is that some finishes can feel slippery, especially when you have water and shaving cream on your hands.

Our customers have made a simple request for years - and we heard you loud and clear.

We're thrilled to launch our grip sleeves custom fit for the Single Edge SE and Pro models.

Get a Grip

They’re made from a flexible, durable silicone. The edges are textured to give you a firm grip on the handle no matter what’s on your hands or which part of your body you’re shaving.

And these grip sleeves aren’t one-size-fits-all. They are custom designed for the SE and Pro razor models. The silicone body clings tightly to the handle, so there will be no movement once you have the grip in place.

But the grips will still allow you to manipulate the razor in your hand with ease. You’ll still be able to get hold it at any angle and get to all the places you need to. These grips are an addition, not a burden.

Same Sleek Design

No one wants a clunky grip on a minimal, sleek razor body. We set out to design grip sleeves that improved grip all while not taking away any from the razor design. We couldn’t compromise the aesthetic of the razor.

The result? Minimal grip sleeves that match our razors and contour to follow it's unique design.

Available in Two Finishes

Our new Grip Sleeves will be available in both black and gray finishes. You choose which you prefer for your new Single Edge.

Also, for our beloved Single Edge 2.0 customers, the SE grip sleeve is 100% compatible with your 2.0 handle.

Wanna grab one?

You can get a FREE custom-fit grip sleeve when you take our 30-second quiz, and finding out which razor is right for you.

Order your new Single Edge today: The Single Edge SE & Pro

How to install your Grip Sleeve

Let's get a grip.

Soap and water are your friend when installing the grip sleeve. Squirt a little soap into the sleeve and rub it underneath water to cover the inside.

Then, easily push the sleeve onto the handle until it rests just below the base plate. Dry off the sleeved razor with a towel, and you're set.

\

You’ll know you’ve got it right when it looks like the pic above.

To uninstall, repeat by squirting a little water and soap on the handle of your razor and slide off the bottom. Rinse and dry out.

Do I need a Shaving Brush?

Depends on your shaving cream. If you're using a concentrated soap like our Ultra Lather Shaving Cream, you will need a brush to create a foamy lather. Not only that, a shaving brush further helps prep your shave by softening and lifting up hairs.

How long do the Skincare products last?

Our Skincare products should also last you anywhere from 2-4 months depending on use frequency and individual preference.

How long do the Shaving Cream and Post Shave last?

Both will last you for about three months.

Are any of your products tested on animals?

None of our products are tested on animals.

A couple of notes about our products: Our shave brush is made out of synthetic materials instead of popular shave brushes made out of badger hair. Our Travel Case and Everyday Dopp are made out of full-grain leather, sourced from ethically raised cattle in North America.

How can I care for my leather goods?

We recommend using Chamberlain's Leather Milk. It's a natural leather cleaner, conditioner, and water repellant. We recommend it on our leather goods, but please check with the manufacturer for their recommendations on other leathers. Also go here to see Chamberlains recommendations.

We recommend treating your leather every 6 months to a year for conditioning, maybe a little more often if you live in a harsher weather environment and expose your leather to these conditions. Make sure you let your leather totally dry out before reapplying.

It is possible that it may darken your leather, so make sure to always test on a small, inconspicuous spot. This product is not one that would work well if you're looking to dramatically darken your piece. Always test in a small area first to see if you like the result. Apply in thin, even layers allowing each application to completely dry. The color may rub off a bit when you're applying conditioner. Once the leather dries you shouldn't have a problem.

How do I get scratches out of my leather gear?

Elbow grease is the best for scratches in leather. Rubbing the heck out of it with a rag and conditioner or oil should do it. Personally, we like scratches and feel they tell great stories. One of the benefits of leather is the way they wear and continue to look better with age.

How to Map your Beard Grain

When you first decide to start shaving with a single blade, it can be incredibly intimidating. Where do I start?

One of the best places to start is by mapping the growth of your beard. Think of it like a road map that traces the direction of all of your facial hair.

Before we get into the how, let's explain the why. In the shaving community, there are three terms that are used often in conjunction with an excellent shave: shaving with the grainshaving against the grain and shaving across the grain.

With The Grain (WTG)

Shaving with the grain is moving the razor in the same direction as the natural growth of your beard. The advantage of shaving with the grain is the minimal chance of razor burn or skin irritation. Sometimes shaving with the grain doesn't give you those extremely close and refreshing shaves you envision. This is where shaving against the grain comes into play for most.

Against The Grain (ATG)

When shaving against the grain, you must use caution and not over do it. Shaving against the grain pulls the hair up and away from the skin, which runs an increased chance of razor burn being left in its path. For this reason, we recommend our customers to avoid shaving against the grain, if possible.

Across The Grain (XTG)

Instead, we recommend shaving across the grain -- this is the practice shaving perpendicular to your beard growth. This means taking horizontal strokes instead of vertical, for most. This shaving method will get you a closer shave than going with the grain, but won't be as harsh on your skin as shaving against the grain.

Now that we know the why, let's talk about the how. It's best to have at least 2-3 days of beard growth in place before you start mapping out your grain. Too short? The direction of growth will be hard to find, and you'll likely make some wrong assumptions. Too long? A natural curl of a beard may conceal the true direction of your growth.

Once you have the correct beard length, look in your mirror at different areas of your beard: specifically your neck, chin, left cheek, right cheek, and under your nose. Notice which direction the hairs grow in each of these areas. To confirm, grab a business card, credit card, or even the back of a comb and pass it lightly over each section of hair. Hair growing with the grain will feel as if you are just combing it down back into place. Hair growth that is against the grain will feel like you are pulling your hair follicles upright.

With a better understanding of your beard growth, it's time to get a close, comfortable shave. Once you're all lathered up, remember the grain direction for each region of your face and shave with the grain. If you need another pass, re-lather and go with the grain again - pivoting and changing the direction you're shaving to follow your unique beard map for each region. If after two passes with the grain, you haven't achieved the closeness you desire, you may want to bump up your shave setting.

What is Two-Pass Shaving?

Multi-blade razors force you to hack over the same spot multiple times to get every last hair before moving onto the next section of your face.

We have news for you, it's absolutely awful for your skin. Right off the bat, you want to avoid the blade scraping against your bare face as much as possible. You don't realize how much you're pressing the blade into your skin with "rapid-fire strokes".

This absolutely WILL NOT fly with the Single Edge SE and Single Edge Pro. You will almost certainly irritate your skin, and possibly cut yourself up. Instead, we recommend taking two passes with the Single Edge.

Your First Pass

Take your first pass with the grain. Use light, short strokes with the razor. Once you've shaved your entire face, examine your beard for any missed spots or stubble.

Stay Lathered

If a second pass is needed, take time to reapply lather to your face before shaving with the Single Edge. To save time, avoid washing your shaving brush after your original lather. Usually, a good lather made with quality ingredients will build enough foam to last two passes. Bottom line, always make sure you're lathered up.

Here's a quick video of Patrick explaining how to create the richest lather using our Shave Cream and Brush:

Your Second Pass

Take your second pass across the grain. This is exactly what it sounds like. Guide your razor perpendicular to the direction of your beard growth. This technique is great for getting a super-close shave from your Single Edge.

Remember, you don't need to press the razor into your skin and take a never-ending amount of strokes to get a close Single Edge shave.

First, pass with the grain.

Second pass across the grain.

Finish up with some Healing Post Shave and Multi-Purpose Moisturizer and go conquer your day.

How To Shave Your Chin

Chins come in all shapes and sizes – but what they all have in common is their trickiness to shave.

Cuts, razor bumps, and missed hairs are all too common – which might be why famous-jawed people like Brad Pitt stopped shaving chins altogether.

Fortunately, the right technique is out there and much easier than you think. Here are four quick tips for a smooth chin shave.

Tip #1 – Prepare

A great lather makes a huge difference. It softens hair and lifts the follicle away from your skin, making them easier to cut. Shop Everyday Essentials

Tip #2 – Know Your Map

This will obviously help with your entire shave – but it's especially important when shaving your chin. Shaving with your beard grain will minimize irritation or cuts.

Learn How To Map Your Beard Grain

Tip #3 – Use Short Strokes

Because chins are angular, you'll need to use very short strokes to maintain the proper blade angle. For sensitive skin, use our sensitive shave setting with your grain for best results.

Tip #4 – Keep it Light

Your Single Edge isn't flimsy. It's heft makes it so you need to apply zero pressure throughout your shave. It was designed specifically to do all the work. Let it glide.

How to Build an Epic Lather

Not all lathers are created equal. We've all seen it. The thin, watery sad excuse for lather that is honestly doing the very least to protect your skin. And your skin deserves better.A thick cushion of lather makes all the difference. It protects skin, while nourishing it, providing a smooth glide for your blade to mow down stubble. With a solid lather, you can expect a smooth, effortless shave, instead of a painful one. Grab your gear and get ready to have your shave transformed.

Let's do this.

Step #1: Start with warm water.

Grab a shave bowl or mug and fill it with hot water. Let it sit for a couple of minutes to heat the container and then, dump out water. This will help keep your lather warm throughout your shave.

Even better, use our Marble Shave Bowl, which is designed to retain heat three times longer than ceramic ones. Shameless plug over.

Step #2: Grab your gear.

Take a finger scoop of your shaving cream and rub it into the bottom of your bowl or container. Run your shaving brush under warm water and begin to whip up a lather.

Why You Need a Shave Brush

Is a shave brush necessary? Wouldn't it be easier to just spray foam and go? It may be easier, but it's no comparison.

The truth is men are waking up to the benefits of using a shave brush to prep for a shave. Clearer skin, less irritation, and closer shaves are just a few of the perks that come with it.

Interest piqued? Here's how it works.

Lather

It's no secret that canned shaving creams may create a fluffy foam, but are filled with harmful chemicals and alcohol to achieve it. Plus - they can damage the skin by drying out already sensitive complexions. So, what's the alternative?

A rich, luxurious lather whipped up by using a quality shave brush. This lather is built to protect skin for the duration of your shave, so you get a close, comfortable shave without any irritation. Using a shave brush helps you build a great lather with little to no effort.

Prepping Hair

Aside from creating an amazing lather, a shave brush will also prepare your hair and skin for a better shave. When applying lather with a brush, the warm, soapy water combines with your circular motions to actually lift your facial hair away from the skin. This places them in the perfect position to be swept away by a sharp, single blade with minimal irritation.

Why this is important: When hairs lay flat against your skin, it's much harder for the blade to cut it, leaving behind stubble and patches of hair. This requires multiple passes to get the close shave you want but at the risk of razor burn or irritation.

Exfoliate

An added bonus to using a shave brush is the much-needed exfoliation it provides to worn skin. While applying lather to your face with a brush, the soft bristles are simultaneously removing dead skin cells, leaving behind clearer skin and a better complexion.

Plus if you're using warm water with it, the brush will actually open up your skin pores, lowering your chances of ingrown hairs and irritation. Win. Win.

Warning: once you shave with a shave brush, you will never go back to the canned alternative. Give us one slow Saturday morning, and you'll be hooked.

How to shave your legs with a Single Edge

One of the top FAQs we get on our social media accounts is if the Single Edge is able to shave other parts of the body. Head, arms, legs, you name it.

While most of our advertisements only show face shaving, the truth is that a single-blade razor like the Single Edge is extremely effective at shaving legs. Not only will it drastically reduce any issues of razor burn, irritation, or ingrown hairs, but it is also extremely intuitive to use and find the proper blade angle.

Here's our quick reference guide on how to get the best leg shave out of your Single Edge.

Lather Up

The Single Edge will shave extremely close to the surface of your skin. Since your legs have a very thin layer of skin between your razor and bone structures, it's very important to lather up thick.

We're not talking oil, water, or even your hair conditioner. Grab a quality shaving cream, filled with skin-nourishing ingredients, and whip up a thick lather for your legs. Added bonus, if you apply your shaving cream with a shave brush, you'll exfoliate and prep hairs at the same time. Hello, multi-tasking.

Find The Angle

Shaving with a Single Edge will feel incredibly intuitive if you've shaved your legs before. That being said, if you don't have the correct blade angle on your skin, your razor will either cut zero hair or give you unwanted nicks.

To find the proper angle, place the head of the razor (a fancy way of saying the part where the blade is) flat against your leg. Then, rotate backward or towards you 5-10 degrees. You may need to experiment to find the proper angle. But good news - once you do, the muscle memory will set in and smooth sailing.

Short, Light Strokes

Here's where you may have to adjust your technique. Once you properly lathered and have found the right blade angle, you'll want to take short, light strokes to shave. The keywords to focus on here are NO PRESSURE.

If multi-blade razors have taught us anything, especially in leg shaving, it's been the bad habit of pressing down during a shave to achieve a closer shave. This is not the answer and will only lead to pain and terrible effects on your skin.

The technique will feel like you are sweeping away the hair with the Single Edge. Think about shaving a balloon and how much pressure you would apply. Then, use that same amount of pressure during your shave. If you need a closer shave, then bump up to a more aggressive shave setting.

Moisturize

No more ashy skin. There's nothing worse than ruining a close shave with dried-out skin. There are a few ways to take care of your skin after a shave, but the main point is that you do take care of it.

Post-shave products aren't just for beards. Your legs can benefit from the same ingredients and perks they offer. Our Healing Post Shave is aloe vera-based and mixed with toning witch hazel to heal your skin and restore it. Plus our alcohol-free formula will do the exact opposite from drying out your skin.

Another option is to use a moisturizer. We developed our Multi-Purpose Moisturizer with a special scrutiny given to the ingredients that make up our water-free formula. We load ours with super-powerful, plant-based ingredients that leave skin supple without being greasy.

How do I create a rich, foamy lather using the Marble Shave Bowl?

Take about a finger scoop of shaving cream and run it under some warm water. Next, smear the cream into the bottom of the bowl, breaking down it's texture and softening it Then, grab your brush, run it under some warm water and give it a shake for the excess water to drip out. Finally, using circular motions, use the brush to whip up a rich lather and apply to the areas that will be shaved.

Use circular motions on your face, as well. Be generous with time, if possible because the longer you use the brush, aim for a minute or two, the softer your hairs will get, the more dead skin you'll exfoliate, the more your skin will be prepared for a shave.

And if you're really looking for a hot and relaxing barber-type shave, fill your bowl with hot water for a few minutes to heat up the bowl. Dump it out, and start creating your lather -- you'll feel the difference.
