A Note from the Founders
While we may be halfway through January, Jennifer and I finally had a chance to step away from the office last week for a few days and reflect on all that happened in 2019.
During that time, we were able to really process all the change and growth this past year. The word we continually came back to was gratitude.
For all of the opportunities we had. For the customers who stuck with us as we worked through growth we could never have forecasted in our wildest dreams. For our team who put in hours around the clock from October through the end of the year to take care of you.
You are the reason we exist. We are constantly evaluating how we can make your experience better, and we couldn't do it without you.
Here's our 2019 highlight reel:
MARCH
We moved Supply HQ.
In March, after working out of our spare bedroom, laundry room, dining room, and garage for three years, we moved Supply HQ to a real, no-kidding office space. I can't tell you how good it has felt for home to be home again.
We also threw an epic Grand Opening Party in the space and share a recap on our Field Notes. Check it out here.
JUNE
We filmed our Shark Tank episode in LA.
Jennifer and I flew to LA over Father's Day weekend and pitched the sharks in the tank. To say this was a once-in-a-lifetime experience is an understatement. And then, when we returned, we had to keep it all a secret for five whole months.
In case you missed it, we shared our entire experience, including behind-the-scenes details, in a blog series on our site. You can check it out here.
AUGUST
We started a new production line and launched a new edition of the Single Edge.
We began production on our new PVD alloy Single Edge razors in August. We're thrilled to have shipped thousands of these new razors around the globe and have loved reading all of your amazing reviews so far.
You can read more of how the Single Edge Alloy came about on our Field Notes.
OCTOBER
We added a new team member at Supply.
We found out just three weeks before our episode that our segment would be airing on ABC's Shark Tank Season 11. At that point, we were barely keeping up with customer service e-mails as is, so we knew we needed to act fast to prepare.
Just a week shy of our November 3rd airing, our team grew to a total of five members, including myself, Jennifer, Callie, Maanav, and our new hired, Val. I can't tell you how hard they all worked for the past few months to get shipments out, emails sent, and issues made right. We couldn't have done it without each of them.
NOVEMBER
We were on ABC's Shark Tank Season 11.
We may have sent just a few e-mails about this (sorry, not sorry) and thrown one of the biggest Shark Tank watch parties ever. With millions watching across the US, we made a deal with Robert Herjavec and even more importantly, were able to share our Single Edge on a national stage.
Unfortunately, our episode is no longer available for free on ABC to stream, but you can still see Robert Herjavec and Mr. Wonderful fighting over making a deal with us at the following YouTube video.
DECEMBER
We far exceeded our goals for 2019, which was amazing (mostly).
In 2018, we had around 3,200 orders on our site between November and December combined. In 2019, we had 13,800 orders in those same two months. We were blown away by the response from customers, and simultaneously overwhelmed. This quick growth broke every single process we had set up in our business and caused delays.
We have since put plans and processes in place, so this won't happen again. If you were affected by our shipping delays and software issues, I can't tell you enough how grateful I am for your patience, kindness, and belief in us as we did our best to make things right.
We say it often, but it can't be overstated. We would be nothing without you. Thank you for the e-mails of support and encouragement this past year. We read every single one.
We have some exciting things planned for 2020 and can't wait to share more VERY soon. (Hint: If you aren't signed up for our e-mail list, you'll want to do so NOW. Something may be hitting inboxes next week.)
Until then, never hesitate to let us know if there are ways we can better serve you. We're so thankful to have you a part of the Supply family.
Yours,
Patrick & Jennifer Coddou
