The Single Edge Max + Year of Blades - Shaving

The Single Edge Max + Year of Blades

1517 reviews

Meet the Single Edge MAX. The closest shave Supply makes. One blade cutting at skin level, on a head that pivots with the contours of your face. Three posts lock the blade rigid so it never shifts mid-stroke. No stacked cartridges. No blades dragging beneath the skin. Lighter pressure, fewer passes, and a shave you can still feel the next morning. Most men have the technique inside five to ten shaves. The razor outlasts every handle you've owned.

  • SwitchBlade magnetic cartridge, pre-loaded
  • 12 months of Japanese Platinum steel blades, free ($32 value)

What's Included

Single Edge MAX. Solid steel handle, diecast zinc head. Pivoting head, no fins. Built to last decades. Two finishes: Sterling and Jet Black.

SwitchBlade Cartridge. Magnetic reload system, pre-loaded with eight Black Label blades. Snap a fresh blade into place by hand. You never touch the edge.

Year's Worth of Platinum Label Blade Pack: Three-hole injector blades, made for the MAX. Twice as thick as modern razor blades. Made in Seki City, Japan. About ninety days of shaves at eight to ten per blade. The third hole locks the blade onto the pivoting head so it can't shift mid-stroke. Blade packs are sent to you every 3 months for a year for free.

Wall Mount. Stainless steel. Keeps the razor off the counter and the blade dry between shaves.

How to use
  1. Hold by the head. Pinch the triangular head between your thumb and forefinger. The handle stays loose. You control the angle from there.
  2. Light pressure. Let the head pivot. The MAX exposes more blade than the SE. The pivot follows your contours. Keep the angle steady and the pressure light. If you press, you'll feel it.
  3. With the grain first. Map your hair direction. First pass with the grain. Closer second pass across the grain. Against the grain only on tolerant skin.
  4. Short strokes. Rinse often. One to two inches at a time. Rinse the head under warm water every few strokes. Lather builds up faster under a pivoting head.

Pro Tip: If lather keeps building, pop the head open with your thumb and rinse the flat plane.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is a single edge razor better than a cartridge razor?
A single edge cuts cleanly at the skin's surface. Cartridges stack blades that multiply friction and drag. Most men who switch report less irritation, razor burn, and bumps, especially on the neck. The tradeoff is technique. For men willing to learn, the result is better skin and a closer shave over time.

What blades does the Supply Single Edge MAX use?
Supply's three-hole injector blades. The MAX head locks blades onto three posts: one center, two edge. Standard two-hole injector blades will slot in, but they wiggle on the third post and can shift under the pivot. The three-point magnetic lock is what keeps the blade rigid while the head moves with your face. It's a requirement of the pivoting design, not a lock-in choice. Buy refills from Supply.

How long do Supply razor blades last?
Eight to ten shaves per blade. A pack of eight lasts about three months at 5-6 shaves a week. Replace at the first sign of tugging, not on a schedule. A sharp blade is safer than a dull one.

How much do Supply razor blades cost?
A pack of eight is $8-12. About $1 per blade. Each blade lasts ten to fourteen days for most men. A year of Supply blades costs less than a single pack of name-brand cartridge replacements.

Is the Supply Single Edge MAX good for beginners?
No. The MAX exposes more blade and has a thinner margin for error. Start with the SE if you're new to single-blade shaving. The SE has a fixed head and NickStop micro-fins that hold the blade at a consistent angle, which is more forgiving while you build the technique. Move to the MAX once the angle and pressure are second nature.

What is the difference between the Supply SE and the Supply MAX?
Two different tradeoffs. The SE is more forgiving: fixed head, NickStop fins, blade slightly off the skin. Built for men new to single-blade shaving. The MAX is closer: pivoting head, no fins, blade at skin level. Thinner margin for error. Built for men who already have the technique and want the closest result Supply makes. Start with the SE if you're new. Move to the MAX when the SE feels too easy.

What is the SwitchBlade cartridge?
The cartridge holds the blade in the MAX. Magnetic reload. Drop a fresh blade in and it snaps into place at the exact angle the pivoting head was designed for. You never touch the edge. Reloading takes about five seconds.

Will my existing Supply blades work with the MAX?
No. The SE and Pro use two-hole injector blades. The MAX uses three-hole blades. The geometry isn't compatible. SE blades will slot onto two of the three posts but won't sit rigid under the pivoting head.

Will the Supply razor help with razor bumps and ingrown hairs?
Single-blade shaving is one of the most effective ways to reduce both. Cartridges with stacked blades cut hair below the skin surface, which causes hair to curl back and grow inward. The MAX cuts at the surface with one blade. Shaving with the grain on the first pass and mapping the neck hair direction make the biggest difference. Most men see improvement within the first few weeks.

Does it come with a warranty?
Lifetime warranty on the razor. 30-day money-back guarantee on your purchase. If something fails mechanically, we make it right.

Closer results, earned with control.

If you are chasing the closest possible shave, technique matters more than features.

Most cartridge razors achieve closeness by stacking blades and increasing pressure. That often means more contact with the skin and more irritation, especially on the neck.

The Single Edge MAX takes a different approach.

One sharp blade, cutting cleanly at skin level.
More blade exposure. Fewer passes. Less unnecessary contact.

The result is a noticeably closer shave than most pivot-head razors, without shaving below the skin.

The MAX achieves this through a pivoting head that helps maintain a consistent shaving angle as you move across the face. It does not shave automatically. It steadies the blade while you control pressure and pace.

This razor rewards attention.
If you rush, it will remind you.
If you slow down, the payoff is immediate.
