Been using mostly straight razors and double edge for a number of years. Wanted something between the two, but not a modern cartridge type due to irritation. There's a lot going on here. Compared to a straight razor, the shave is similarly smooth due to a thicker blade and much more forgiving to technique. Compared to a double edge, it can get very close with the correct angle and without blade chatter. Compared to a modern cartridge, it is a fast shave as the prep takes longer. Together, you get a smooth, comfortable, forgiving, close shave far faster than other traditional methods and without the potential irritation of a cartridge. It is however very sensitive to shave angle, so first couple shaves were a little inconsistent. Overall, it fits right in, works with all my wet shave stuff and unlike straights and double edges with their technical hassle, I could very easily use this every day.
Additionally, it's very well made with good weight, finish and feel. I actually wouldn't mind if the handle was heavier with a little texture or contours to index it.
Willing to bet this could be the solution for a lot of dudes.
