Everything You Need To Know About Kickstarter

Everything You Need To Know About Kickstarter

What is Kickstarter? Why are we talking about it?

On Monday, we're launching an incredibly exciting Kickstarter campaign. It’s the culmination of six years of hard work, innovation, sleepless nights, shipping orders from our laundry room, answering customer questions from our dining room table, moving into our own office and making a deal on Shark Tank. The new products are the result of dozens of designs and hundreds of tests.

If you’ve been around since day one… THANK YOU. We wouldn’t be here without your unfailing support and belief in everything we do. If you’re new here, welcome to the Single Blade Revolution. You’re joining at an exciting time.

We’re going to cover a brief overview of how Kickstarter works and how you can be a part of it. Supporting our campaign means you will be the first to receive and use all our new gear.

What is Kickstarter - and why launch there?

Kickstarter is a funding platform for creative design projects. The coolest part of Kickstarter is you get to be a part of new products from concept to delivery. You’ll see the production updates. You’ll be the first orders shipped when the new products arrive at our warehouse. Plus, you help fund the upfront cost of our first purchase order by pre-ordering them through Kickstarter. If you love the idea of our new products, like we know you will, you can be a backer.

This is our biggest launch yet. And it feels right to launch right where we first started - Kickstarter. Our backers from our first campaign helped us start Supply six years ago. And this campaign is a chance for us to take the Single Edge revolution to the rest of the world.

Kickstarter Terminology 101

Kickstarter sort of has its own language. Here’s a quick glossary of key terms for those not familiar with the platform.

Being a backer means you are part of making this project come to life. And when you become a backer of our campaign, you are essentially preordering our new gear and will be the first to receive it.

Supply literally wouldn’t exist if it weren’t for our original, amazing backers.

Kickstarter isn’t a store, though. Backing a project means you’re supporting the creator's manufacturing process, not purchasing a product that ships out immediately. If you haven't read our first Kickstarter nightmare, you can read all the details here. To say we've learned a lot since then is an understatement.

When you back our campaign, you get to choose from a variety of reward levels and add-ons for your pledge. This is your chance to preorder our newest Supply gear and receive them in your hands before everyone else.

And did we mention there are usually price discounts for backing early? Because there are.

These are what we promise to give you in return for becoming a backer on our campaign. You can think of them as a type of preorder or early bird special. Plus, you won't have to wait. You'll be the first to use our new products.

And that means you’ll get to brag about it on social media. Speaking of, we’d love it if you did. Please tag us @supply.

Reward Levels

Reward levels are all the different price points for how you can back our campaign. You choose your level of support, and we reward you with a product or bundle agreed upon in that level.

We love every level of backer. Seriously. You should see us high-fiving at HQ every time a new customer places an order.

Funding Goal

Funding on Kickstarter is cutthroat: it’s all-or-nothing. When you back our campaign, you will not be charged for your pledge amount until the last day of the campaign and only if we reach our funding goal that we set at the beginning.

It creates an exciting, shared experience between us and our backers. It unites us.

We all have the same goal, and on our campaign’s last day, we’ll all *hopefully* cross the funding finish line together - and celebrate(!).

How To Be A Backer

First, make sure you’re logged into your Kickstarter account. If you don’t have an account, you can set one up here.

After creating your profile, click this link to take you straight to our campaign pre-launch page. You'll want to click the green button that says "Notify me on launch."

Then, Monday morning when we hit launch, you'll be notified. Head to our campaign at this link. Then,

  1. Choose your reward level.
  2. Stack it with add-ons.
  3. Finish up your pledge and check-out.

Important note: Your card will not be charged immediately. Because of Kickstarter’s All-or-Nothing policy, backer’s credit cards will not be charged until the last day of the campaign - and only IF it is fully funded.

If you have any questions feel free to reach out to our amazing customer service team, or you can also send us a message directly on Kickstarter.

Psssttt... If you love details you can read through Kickstarter’s info on project backer’s  here.
